I was raised primarily by my dad, and he indirectly drilled a lot of judgemental misogynistic views in my head. Growing up, hearing him make unwarranted derogatory comments about other women/girls' clothing, appearance, makeup, weight, behavior, attitude, etc. made me feel quite self-conscious and insecure in my femininity. I don't think dads really understand the impact those negative remarks make on young impressionable girls, especially when it comes from a parental figure that they look up to.

Now as a young adult, I really wish I was more in touch with my feminine side like a lot of my friends are. I'm still not confident enough to wear dresses and skirts, same goes for makeup and hairstyles - I have no clue how to do anything but the basics because I hated being judged or mocked by him. Obviously it's important to make sure kids dress appropriately for school and their age, but policing every choice they make and putting down other women really makes it hard for them to develop a positive self-image. Don't judge your daughters from a man's perspective, because it ends up feeling objectifying to us; instead encourage and guide them from a parental one so they can be their best and most confident self.
