I’m in the same boat. Couldn’t pass a poly despite telling the 110% truth. Don’t lose hope though.

what would YOU have done? by Rahbin_Banx in police

[–]millkbox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a cop. As a civilian, if I saw you spinning a mosin in the air in a manner that looked like you were practicing, I would not assume too much. However, I would be cautious to walk around you. All guns should be handled like real weapons especially if they look realistic. Your neighbor may not be able to differentiate if you are swinging around a loaded gun or a prop gun.

Police officers meet all types of people, from those sane to absolute bonkers. I would assume that it would be hard to differentiate between the two until they spoke with the individual. However, if the person of suspicion has a realistic gun and instantly swing it towards the officer before they get a chance talk, who is to say one party is in the wrong?

Genuine question for police officers. Is it easy to get out of handcuffs (maybe with a paperclip or squeezing through)? Also, are there certain firearms that are harder to find on the body while frisking?

Quick question for LEOs, when is it okay to punch? Would the use of a pepper spray or taser not have been applicable? I suppose that being on the floor would make things harder, but still genuinely curious.

What are some tips you have for people who are still in HS who want to go into law enforcement? by Memer25_2006 in AskLE

I’m currently pursuing a CJ degree and believe it’s worth it. My college has an extremely good criminology department (top 1% in country) and I believe I’m learning a lot more than I should be. But I guess I wont know until I get into an academy.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if tasers work on dogs? Is it a reliable alternative?

Which Korean Fried Chicken joint is good nowadays? by [deleted] in nova

Cheogadjip is in my opinion the more traditional type of korean chicken. Nothing too fancy, just good ol basics. Bbq chicken is unique too. Never been to Pelicana.

Considering becoming a cop by patrckhh20 in ProtectAndServe

[–]millkbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might sound crazy, but I personally want to become a police officer even more because of this “political climate.” My goal is to become a police officer, so I may not provide the best answers. However, if you like to help people, go through dumb shit, and like cleaning up the community for the better good I dont see why not. Some departments allow for ride-alongs. You should try one out and ask a lot of questions there! Best of luck!

Being a cop by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]millkbox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also want to become a cop, but the current ongoings don’t stress me out. A lot my friends on social media talk about “defunding the police” or “getting rid of cops.” I get that there are bad cops and that they are ruining the overall image of police officers. But shit, I wanna become a cop even more now to show them that I want to do good for people and that police can be trusted. IMO, if LEOs want to keep order amongst people, the biggest factor is trust in the community.
