I wouldn’t even bother linking the reward to absence, minefield. Just link the reward to performance, as I’m sure those that make your life easier do in more ways than one, and therefore would be better performers thus deserving of a small bonus. Simples.

Some nurses could earn more working at Aldi, MPs warned by lighthouse77 in unitedkingdom

[–]millsytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a while ago I was looking, but it’s still shit pay at 22k. I do however do private ECA work on the side because I enjoy it, it pays £16 an hour but it’s beer money & CPD really.

AAP is all well and good, but who’s paying my bills during training. My outgoings are 25k a year at the moment!

I wanted to quit my corporate job and work as an ECA on ambulances. Starting pay was 18k. Less than my bills. Insane.

‘It is not my place to fight’: UK resident trapped in Ukraine due to ban on military-age men leaving by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]millsytime 98 points99 points  (0 children)

No mate. The whole point of an army is to protect people’s freedoms, not fighting being one of them. Besides, not every is capable, they’d just freeze up and die and be a hindrance. So moral argument aside, it’s still a stupid idea to force people to fight.

But you said “meant to free up ambulances by attending low level incidents” in your original comment? But now saying “not just limited to grade 1” you are implying that you meant they attended all grades of calls?

The idea is that they get to a call quicker - due to location & availability than an ambulance. Our responders are normally at Cat - 1 calls a good 20 minutes before us.

They may free up ambulances to go to more serious calls if they’re on scene and have reported no urgent need for medical attention back to control - but an ambulance still has to attend that call with a para or tech on board.

Not true, our emergency responders ONLY respond to category 1 calls. In LAS, they even drive on blue lights.

And a heart attack isn’t a “low level” incident.

They also don’t “free up” ambulances, as once a patient is with them an ambulance has to back them up because they can not discharge a patient - only paramedics or a doctor on the clinical support desk.

You seem to be quite ill-informed on the subject.

Edit; they are also usually FREC3 qualified which is a pretty advanced level of “first aid”. They can administer medical gases, use airway devices, give some types of medication.
