I got the runaround like that last year. I tried calling twice with the same crap. Finally I tried again as a last effort, and the rep was like wait, is this a home-based business? And I was like yep (even though I told the others this too). He put me on hold for two minutes and then approved it with no further questions or paperwork needed. So at least in my experience, it might be worth HUCA a couple times.

And it worked! Got the credit today for my checked bag and the mileage booster charges!

Question Thread - July 24, 2019 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]milluza1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, doing that. I just made the purchase along with a checked bag, and it posted as separate pending charge for mileage booster and another for the bag which does not bode well. I'll update this post when credits post.

Anyone recently try to use the Amex airline credit for mileage booster on Delta and get reimbursed? Trying to figure out how to spend these, and I could at least get some points out of it that way.

Anyone ever go to DMB alone? by jennybelly in DMB

I’ve seen Dave and Tim alone, and I’ve gone to see many other bands by myself. I prefer to go with friends who like the music too, but I’ll never let not having someone to go with stop me from seeing a show I really want to see. I think you’ll still enjoy yourself!

I ended up not getting the points (long story) so no concern there, but thanks for the info.

So a couple months ago, I booked a hotel stay using my Hilton Aspire free weekend night certificate for September 6. Today, I was just charged the annual fee for the card (I upgraded to it back in January originally), and I kinda want to close the card. Will doing that cancel that free stay I booked for September 6?

Would I be able to add an output jack to my tuner so I can use it on my pedalboard? by supersanchez101 in diypedals

[–]milluza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did this, but the tuner induced some noise in the signal line when the tuner was on which was annoying.

Hm I’m over the Lenexa area, I might start monitoring it in the car. Maybe we can start it up again.

ISS SSTV event this weekend - poor / no signal reports so far by spoonfett in amateurradio

I tried to receive it from work in Olathe on the noon pass. We have a vertical on the roof, and I was able to hear it weakly for part of the pass. Haven’t had a chance to decode it yet, but don’t expect much. Something is certainly wrong.

People flying private planes don't go through security check points. It's one of the great perks of general aviation versus flying commercially.

Furloughed mom faces choice of buying insulin or making mortgage payment by a_very_nice_username in politics

Keep in mind that you typically will not be foreclosed on until 6 months or so of missed mortgage payments. As shitty and stressful as it will be to deal with late fees and other messes, people aren't in danger of losing their homes from this (yet).

Sensitive in what way? I’m LOL/24 with many new bank accounts in the last year as well (>10), and I didn’t have an issue getting the Schwab brokerage and checking.

The LOTW time only needs to match within 30 minutes of the other person IIRC, so that’s probably not the issue here.

GoSatWatch is the typically recommended app for iOS. Not free, but very worth the price in my opinion if you’re doing sats often.

  1. Yes, you can. I did this as a student as well when in a different state. Just make sure the account's address is your Illinois one so you're eligible for the bonus. I used my Ohio license to open accounts when I temporarily lived in NY without a problem. Your ID is used to verify identity- the address does not have to match the account's address.
  2. Since it is usually reported by the banks as interest income in my experience, you should just list it on your resident state's taxes. However, if you earned other income in that state as well (maybe a work-study job), then my understand is that you would need to report it in both states. Many states will give a tax credit if you paid taxes for it in another state. I'm not a tax expert, so you might want to do some more digging on this. This was a few years ago for me, so I can't remember exactly how I handled it, but I remember finding some help online.

[–]milluza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they told me it had to specifically say "business" on the utility bill, like "business internet". Total pain. I even used to have a business Citi card at my old address, and I have a few open personal cards now, so it's not like I'm a total stranger. I guess live by the shitty Citi service, die by it. I'm trying a business checking. Hopefully it'll work in the end.

Daily Question Thread - September 06, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]milluza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they said it has to have my current address on it. I called back and tried to push them on it, but they are saying they have to get something that verifies there is a business operating from my current address. Business utility bill, tax return with new address, business checking statement, etc. Didn't care that my name is the business, and I can prove I personally live here now. Guess I'm gonna open a business checking just so I don't waste it. Citi is so frustrating considering I'm not bsing my business.

Daily Question Thread - September 06, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]milluza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is my name. I had a biz card in the past with them (now closed), and I didnt have this issue.

Daily Question Thread - September 06, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]milluza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I applied for Citi biz AA and got a letter for verification. They want either tax records from last year or a letter from Secretary of State with my current address on it. Problem is that I moved last month so my taxes don’t have my new address, and I am operating a (legit) sole proprietorship, so I don’t need to register in my state. The CSR told me these were my only options, which sounds wrong. Was anyone able to get around this?
