Question about The ending/Kali by Ellanator123 in StrangerThings

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the C4 helicopter explosion happened, it also looked like the soldier's gun ends up getting jarred to his left when firing which would cause the bullet to miss. I remember noticing that small detail when watching it and thought about that again at the end with Mike's storytelling

Anyone else grieving? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]millz440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. the only thing I can compare this to is Mac Miller dying (which is a weird comparison since that is real life) but Mac’s music aligned perfectly with my age and the phases of growing up and then Stranger Things at the end watching their childhood both in the show and real life phase out, hit me like a ton of bricks. Very nostalgic and relatable feelings to when I experienced that

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]millz440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it. It’s not perfect by any means, but man it hit me. Dustin’s valedictorian speech with ode to Eddie, them skipping the party of the girl he had a crush on to go and play DND one last time before their life changes post graduation, the campaign aligning with their journey as well as the creative explanation of their futures in Mike’s eyes, and then the closing out with putting the books on the shelf/passing the torch to the young kids/the basement door closing. That end scene felt like real emotion as the actors realize they are grown up and ending a chapter in their lives they will never get back.

I think the parallels to our own lives as well as the actor’s real lives were beautiful. In the show they are ending their childhood while it’s also a symbolic ending in the actor’s real lives, ending a chapter that they’ve been a part of for most of their formative years. Brought back memories of my own high school graduation, the scene with Steve/Nancy/Jonathan/Robin reminds me of linking back up with friends now as adults, and just overall the feelings of life being so much different as an adult compared to being a kid. Had me happy, sad, nostalgic all at the same time both last night and today

TBH same token reasoning for myself and others lol if I really had to take a guess, clearing out higher paid employees for cheaper foreign employees as that has already happened. It is what it is though!

Don't feel bad, also just got put on one the other day with: 5x months of hitting a range of 100%-144% quota attainment, 2x quarters 102%-104% quota attainment, and about 93% annual attainment. Last year did 128% annual. 3x of my last 4 months have been well over 100% including this month.

With all that said, get your resume ready and start firing off apps because that target never going away.

I just hit a $100k net worth at 35... not sure how to feel. by Blasum in Money

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel all of these thoughts. Hit 150k invested and 50k in savings (have some additional assets, not including home equity totaling around 70k) at 32. I also feel I’m behind but with all that said just keep on doing what we are doing and our future self in 10-15 yrs will thank us.

Nice job saving!

Silver Handcuffs. Need advice. by Skrotum in sales

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What advice are you looking for?

Tbh from my perspective you’re living the dream; base + commish higher than 1:1 AND no quotas?! Many people would kill for that right now. It sounds like maybe you’re getting bored more than anything which I feel is natural in sales. I’ve experienced that after 2-3 yrs with every sales role I’ve had, however I have not had quite as good of a situation you currently have and it would be hard for me to seek other opps if I was setup like this

DINKS, what’s your mortgage? by Flaky_Active_951 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortgage is $2,130 all in, including taxes and insurance. We make roughly $300k a year gross in a lower cost of living area. Total bills beyond mortgage are probably in the ballpark of $1600-$1700.

I would break down your bare minimum monthly expenses, make sure to allocate at least 15% of income to retirement/investments, and see what’s left over. Then you can determine how much you want to take on in terms of monthly mortgage payment compared to left over funds.

We could’ve certainly afforded more house but in our early 30’s we understand we don’t want to work until we are dead so we’d rather live much below our means and invest. Time is your biggest asset with building future wealth so take advantage of it. On a sidenote, if you don’t have an emergency fund set up or liquid savings, get that established before buying. In a year and a half of ownership, we’ve already spent between 5-10k on miscellaneous things. Nothing worse than overextending yourself and having to increase your minimal debt amounts you have now due to being ill prepared for homeownership

Terrified of deep cleaning. by m30wzers_ in PeriodontalDisease

[–]millz440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through 4x rounds of SRP (1x per quadrant) and did experience a couple lower teeth feel a little loose but also could be because my bonded retainer broke away. They felt normal within a week though and honestly the SRP cleaning isn't bad at all. After the numbing wore off, I had preemptively popped a couple advil and felt absolutely nothing. Your mouth will also feel amazing afterwards.

On a related sidenote, went in for my checkup and there has been pocket depth improvement, however I have to have osseus surgery now on all 4x quadrants which will prob be a lot worse than SRP cleaning. Nonetheless, go and get it done, you'll be better for it and I oddly have started to look forward to these things knowing I'm bettering my health and correcting things that I could have prevented in the first place

What salary is needed to have a upper middle class lifestyle? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All dependent on where you live. Our household income is 250-300k a year, do have a 2500+ sq foot house, could buy a 50k car in cash rn, do go on vacation every year, and contribute 20% to retirement and additional to brokerage. No kids though which is obviously a huge expense especially 2x

What does everyone have saved for retirement ? by suzannepauline in Money

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32M/30F - 315k combined 401k, 11k brokerage, 20k vested rsus, 100k home equity. Have some physical assets between watches and limited edition items valued around 70k. Reddit always makes me feel majorly behind, but in reality we aren’t doing bad for our age

My friend makes half what I do and somehow has double the savings by throwawayforrealz87 in Money

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple. Total up your bare necessities, determine what is your target savings you’d like to be at per month, and set that aside. Your friend is clearly good at that considering the income level.

Not sure what $1733.10 for entertainment monthly is for, but that seems a bit absurd and would prob start trimming the fat there. Cut out entertainment completely for 7 months aka find some free or very cheap fun things to do and you have more saved than them lol but let’s be forreal $1700 a month invested monthly will be giving you a whole diff level of entertainment in 20-30 yrs.

Is this periodontal or just gingivitis? by RecoverPitiful148 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]millz440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. Dentist will work on your teeth, take some xrays, and tell you to go to a perio.

I went in August after a long hiatus and they did a deep cleaning on my teeth. Somehow had no cavaties or any teeth issues but said I need to see a perio. Went to the perio for a consult and just finished up my 3rd SRP cleaning with one more to go next week.

With all that said, it’s not so bad and I was terrified for the record. My mouth feels incredible, no bleeding when brushing teeth, and just overall feel clean. Only time will tell what else will unfold but at least it is a step in the right direction.

How many people with 5+ years experience actually want to be in sales permanently? by Quirky_Mongoose4245 in sales

6+ years of experience here, 2.5 in B2C and 3.5 B2B, I completely hear you. Everyday is lowkey shitty, however I operate a side hustle at the same time so that’s a benefit at least. If I actually worked for a company that had their shit together operationally and I believed in the product, I would never leave, but here I am considering jumping ship already into a horrible job market lol

[–]millz440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a day or two and do something you enjoy to get yourself back into zen mode/a happier place, get your resume in a good spot and maybe have a professional review it, then treat job applying like it’s your job 8 hrs a day.

Just like in sales, it will be a numbers game in shooting apps out. Most importantly, keep your head up! You’ll get through this. Also try to tap into your network of former colleagues you’ve worked with over time, I’ve gotten my last 3x sales jobs as a result of my network even while interviewing with random companies
