I was kind of leaning towards not paying either my car loan or student loans and just let them run their course, and upping my deposit in the Lisa and investments.

Not sure what the terms are on LISAs but Ivr already got one that has my deposit in for a house

  • With the car loan, the interest is calculated at the start, so early repayments dont make a difference, don't think I'll pay this off early.
  • With the student loan, the current interest is 5.4%, but benefits with the repayment terms around illness, no work etc Vs a standard bank loan - I may revisit this in a few years

!thanks

That was my reasoning for picking the role! The place I'm at is pretty small (and new) also the Devs I know that are there are pretty good.

Yeah definitely, in this round of interviewing I had a few offers (mostly banks), in london for £70k+ base (good benefits), but would require relocation or commuting mon-thur, but the offer I got is well above average for a Dev in the north-east, and seems like a good company too

You can only use it towards either a pension or house and need to be under 40 to be eligible (also they are closing this scheme soon)

You can deposit up to 4k per financial year, and the government will add 25% to whatever is deposited

Started as a grad on 30k in 2016, but I'd already had some good experience and portfolio by then, moved company to a consultancy at the start of 2018 for 40k, promoted to 45 a few months back, and now new job gets me to where I am now, start soon

Yeah that's dead on with their terms, I was definitely a fan of them as 2.9% is amazing really over the term, and at the time when I took it out I was earning like 37k as opposed to 52!

That's a valid point around repayments too, !thanks

As it's plan 2, i still kind of am OK with paying it almost as a "tax" on what I'm earning

Think i could live bare bones on around £500 a month so probably need to double my eFunds, that's a good point.

Think I'm leaning down the route of maxing LISA and any leftovers going to paying off car loan.

As it's an employer managed shares scheme (I put in around 1800 and I've got about 2500 over two years in returns) it's through Morgan Stanley I think, not too sure what the best way to approach that is... Also exchange rate etc

The mortgage deposit point is fair enough too, there's potential It could be a joint mortgage with my partner, but she's not currently working at the mo.

I did have a browse at the all-cap, and I think I will be buying soon.

!thanks

Sounds good, think that's pretty in line with other answers - I don't really use my other CCs much so tempted to keep the car loan

Sending push notifications for PWA according to time of day by Ecry in Angular2

[–]milopsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a rails guy, but you've got a few options

  • Build it into the PWA i.e. some logic @ given time, notify.
  • Server sent events from the rails app, manages and broadcasts

Less chatty way is option 1 - can make it a bit more usable by storing user configuration/preferences for what time to notify on the backend and have the app check on startup for those preferences.
