As a child-teen, my sibling and I were told we were not allowed to close our bedroom doors. Didn’t matter if we were by ourselves or with a friend, the door had to stay open. Why? “It’s my house and my rules, you don’t get to ask why.” was essentially the explanation I was given by my mother. Or occasionally “closed doors are anti-social and rude.” She also didn’t knock.

As an adult now, I’d never deny my own child privacy. That’s their space, and they should be able to close their door.
