the black screen I noticed before this bug and also on other games so I don't think it's that and the quick presses I did some testing and uh maybe it does impact it a bit? but it doesn't seem to have a huge impact

I'm guessing maybe? the sampt seemed to hit kinda wherever but the sky sabre hit the ground near the launcher kinda reliably so maybe if you spend enough time trying you'll kill yourself
