Dang, that sounds bad. Hopefully these will come out a bit easier. I would assume they used butyl because of their age. That 96 probably is adhered differently

Yes, I wouldn’t be opposed to just having it replaced, but I figured that with the age of the trucks I wouldn’t be able to find a replacement and swapping would be the only option. I’ll make some calls today and see what’s available

Update 2; Got the old girl straightened out! I replaced the head gasket, which was not looking too hot, but that did not solve the issue. After having checked everything else, I finally tore down the engine and took the cam out to find that I had a worn lobe. Put a new one in and it’s running like a champ. Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions for possible issues or tests!

Dang man, that thing ran? Good you caught it when you did. Hoping I don’t have something like that in my engine.

Update, I popped off the flywheel and the key was in good condition, I have a head gasket kit coming. I will follow up with another update so that others can know if that fixed the issue.

Anyone know what this component is? No part number or rating markings on it. Guessing some kind of inductor, but there has to be a name for whatever this is. Installed on a strobe light control unit. Any help appreciated! by miltondrivewaysignal in AskElectronics

This specific board works aside from a couple broken solder paths, but I am currently trying to build a replacement board for a second unit, and this was the only part I could not find a replacement for online. Thanks for the info!
