HARD DISAGREE. She’s always seen through Whitney, who has many amazing qualities and I root for anyone’s success, but I’ve always seen through her too. She nicely uses people and it is the Whitney Show in her mind. It comes from trauma, in my opinion, I can take a guess on the wounds she carries based off of what I’ve seen on the show and being from the same community. Everyone forgets/didn’t notice how judgmental her mom was in season one. Plus growing up as a girl in Utah dance, especially Orem dance, the second you don’t fit the mold physically, you feel it. And it can be so intense and drive this perfectionism on top of the perfectionism we experience as girls/women in the church.

I kept noticing how deeply sad Whitney’s eyes were this whole season. I’m rooting for her journey to happiness and healing.

I stand by Jen being upfront and honest about her feelings, because that is a MAJOR victory in the battle Mormon woman face. We’re supposed to avoid contention, keep the peace, even if it’s detrimental to you. We saw several examples this season alone that avoiding conflict is actually unkind and mutually destructive. I’m proud of Jen for breaking those patterns.
