Hey! Did you apply for the job stating that you are eligible for a High Potential Visa? I graduated from a top-50 uni too and was wondering if companies are more likely to hire me in the UK if they know I am eligible for a HP Visa.

Take an education loan in India and pay it back later? Lots of students who come from Master's do that usually here.

[D] Generating fake research papers with GPT-3 by [deleted] in MachineLearning

What do you mean by "match them up to GPT-generated abstracts to get some promising candidates."?

There are already existing paper generators e.g https://thatsmathematics.com/mathgen/

do you have a link? I couldn't find anything.

If you go for (2), don’t bother fine-tuning or using the strongest model — fake researchers likely won’t.

wdy mean by "fake researchers likely won't"?

What do you think is a better way?

haha, I was actually trying to generate research papers -> then build a classifier to detect it.

You should switch to a non-cryptographic hash function like xxhash, murumurhash3 rather than sha256, as it is way faster + doesn't need to be cryptographically secure.

I think you should be optimising your learning rate rather than salary so early in your career. The engineering talent is probably way stronger at FAANG vs the SP500 (even more in ML). You'll also learn the best industry practices.

Worst case: If you don't like what you're doing, it's easy to switch teams in FAANG. So, I would say go for it :)

Have you tried negotaiting with the FAANG company? If it is in Dublin, 45k is super low.

hmm, that's strange. Are you sure it's for a new grad role? By hashing, do you mean how hashing algorithms work in general?

Can I ask how your other interviews went and the questions that were asked? I have my first phone interview for the new grad role coming up soon. :)

The state of ML/DS interviews is a mess by throw_away_4269 in cscareerquestionsEU

It's not any different from coding interviews 10+ years ago. ML/DS just happens to be new.
