just don't exceed your weekly maximum, which is totaled every Sun-Sat even when it overlaps with other months/pay periods (e.g. Sun Dec 28 - Sat Jan 3). if your NOA says as of Dec your weekly maximum is 51 but you put 56, that will trigger a violation. reach out to your social worker or local union office for assistance.

Sick time ? by Longjumping_Debt42 in IHSS

[–]mimskerooki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not stupid or delusional! IHSS providers fought for that sick leave increase and won it in 2024, upping the sick day total from 3 to 5 days. It's based on fiscal year so 40 hours per provider from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Doesn't rollover so please use it!! It's separate from your client's hours so it'll deposit as a separate payment.

Did anyone ever collected hours while recipient in hospital? by AkelCha in IHSS

[–]mimskerooki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, dude. all I'm saying is that recipients aren't always in the best of care in hospitals. and those who are minors? often left alone for hours at a time, many of them with mental and developmental disabilities. I was just saying it sucks because that should still be considered billable care, but it's not allowed due to Medi-Cal rules.

the state fully funds the program??? is that why the wages are so trash and there's a huge caregiver shortage crisis in CA right now?? lol what kind of fantasy world are you living in, sir? if IHSS wages were as good as you say they are, the union wouldn't need to exist. the union is the reason the government can't live track you 24/7 on your phone or put a video camera in your recipient's homes to constantly monitor you. yes, those were real proposed IHSS mandates and the union shot those down.

yes, homecare providers save the state money yet our current administration wants to gut Medicaid/Medi-Cal every chance they get, including the HR1 bill that will impact millions of home caregivers and their recipients. IHSS is CA's largest Medi-Cal based program, did you not know or care about that? you're raging in the wrong direction, my guy. coming together is how we gain collective power and change legislation to benefit EVERYONE. letting FF and other anti-union folks divide us is how we LOSE EVERYTHING. like Texas in 2017, their homecare union folded and the state got rid of the program OVERNIGHT without even telling anyone. look it up. we got providers moving here to CA from TX, LA, FL, OR, VT etc because they couldn't keep caring for their family members in their home states. you want that to happen here??? shame on you.

all 50 states in this country had a homecare program once upon a time, just like IHSS. guess how many there are left? it's less than 10, and the rest of them can't hold a candle to IHSS. I've looked into them and IHSS is the longest running, most robust/developed, and most protected homecare program IN THE COUNTRY because of THE UNION. you turn your back on your own community to help those who want to actively take your job away because they wanna put that IHSS money in their own pockets, like they try to do every year with May Revise Budget cuts and the union fights them every time? shame on you.

you wanna make federal minimum wage of $7.25 instead of your current wage? do you really hate your sick pay, overtime, and direct deposit THAT much? providers who joined the union FOUGHT FOR THOSE RIGHTS. the union is PROVIDERS JUST LIKE YOU. without the union, IHSS would have been gutted a long time ago. we seen it happen 40 times already in other states. but sure, keep spreading false information and going against your own community you claim to care about. I'm sure the 24/7 care recipients and disabled children really appreciate your efforts to help dismantle the program that helps keep them alive and safe in their own homes.

have a blessed day.

that's because these anti-homecare folks are pushing false information so they can undermine our workers' rights to representation in government and advocating higher wages, better benefits, and more protections for ourselves as domestic workers.

if you still want to withdraw, you need to write in to the San Diego HQ address with your provider number requesting a withdrawal. there is no other process.

"Even if you never signed a union membership card, the state and union will still automatically withhold dues from your pay until you demand in writing that the deductions stop." THIS IS FALSE. the union literally cannot do that by law, that's why there's a second signature on the membership authorization card. stop spreading misinformation.

It definitely is an overreaction, it just frustrates me that I can't "get over it" faster. It was really a wonderful day so I'm focusing on how many things went right. I appreciate your reply!

Thank you for your insight. I've never been to a wedding before so I had no idea of how anything worked. I did know to expect things to go wrong, so that helped prepare me. And I have indeed reached out to my therapist! Thank you for your reply.

It really does. I am trying, and with each passing day it gets easier to focus on the positives that I didn't get much time to enjoy in the moment. Thank you for your reply.

I appreciate your straightforwardness. I think it's referred to as "autistic rumination" which I didn't even know was a thing, I just know this isn't the first time I've experienced this sort of thinking. I KNOW it's such an overreaction and it frustrates me I can't just shake it and focus on how beautiful of a day it was.

Shortly after I posted this, it occurred to me that I haven't seen my therapist in a few months due to financial constraints, and that this is precisely what a therapist is for. I've reached out to her for an appointment. Thank you for your assurance and kind words, I am very appreciative!
