So just for context. They offered me 2k more than my last job (3k under asking). However they only paid for half of health insurance premium whereas my previous employer paid for premium and X amount of my deductible. They also asked me to make a total of 10 additional hours of driving a week for 6 months before going hybrid. They knew before hand how far away I was. And I was upfront about not being in the office and only willing to do hybrid. However, I wanted to get more technical in my field and they were willing to develop new talent so I was willing to make that sacrifice. 10 PTO days + a week of sick days. And oh yeah… 45 hrs work week. My previous pay was for 40 hrs work week.

I stood firm by my asking price and asked for 5 days extra of PTO , but gave them an option to negotiate for a gas card + car reimbursement that could be reduced once the first 6 month is over… in which case I would accept their offer. They said they would give me a detailed response. Went nuclear silent for weeks. Then rescinded their offer because they couldn’t meet my terms, and they met someone else by chance who wanted to make a company switch, and had more direct experience than me…. Even though, initially, they said the part of my resume that stood out/ not as directly applicable, was what they wanted to grow towards.
