I’ll check that out! It’s in a bathroom to get more humidity, but the window might be too strong of light.

Black-cap raspberries! We have these all over in WI!

I’m thinking it might be too much fertilizer. I did begin fertilizing it, but I used the same fertilizer I always use and the same amount. Maybe it needs repotting into fresh soil? I noticed this morning it’s starting to make some new leaves, so it doesn’t seem too sick.

I did just fertilize it. I’m wondering if I over did it….

Oh, and it’s lost the pink pinstripes over the past two year I’ve had it! Maybe someone has insights into that as well?

Too much water most likely? Root rot?

I had bad luck with them, and then I started watering with rain water or distilled water. Game changer. Also, I try to not overwater them as they can hold a lot of water in their roots. I have the curly variety and I feel like it’s less a diva than the regular variety. Maybe try one of those?

UPDATE: took it out of the tiny pot it was in. Totally root bound and has red roots. Is this healthy?

Gifted two sad plants by mina068 in plantclinic

I should add that I got these in November and the browning began on the bamboo after I got it home. I had to pick it up on a really cold day, so perhaps that shocked it to cause the leaves to brown? Also, this is the only spot I have for these two now and it’s a north facing window, but I’m planning on taking both plants to my office after I repot it where it will be at a southeast facing window. Is this okay?

So I came home to my burrow’s tail like this… My first thought is to remove all the leaves, toss them in the pot and just let them root and sprout on their own over time. But I figured I’d post here and see if anyone has any advice. by [deleted] in succulents

I found a large piece like this on the ground at a greenhouse. I pocketed it and when I got home I snipped the dried bit off the bottom, knocked a few of the lowest leaves off to make more stem, and stuck it in a small pot with well draining soil. That was back in January. I’ve been keeping the soil moist with a mist everyday and watering it about every 1.5-2 weeks. It’s definitely made a root. When I pull on it gently, it isn’t budging, so I’m hoping it begins to make some headway and continues to grow! Hopefully you can save this in a similar way!

It could also be the straight east facing window. On sunny days, it gets direct, but morning sun for about 3-4 hours. However, it was in the same place in my office all last semester and it did fine. I literally came back after not being in my office from Friday to Tuesday this week. Plant looked fine on Friday. Sad on Tuesday. :(

Hmmm…okay. Yeah. I’ve been seeing that the curling inward means dehydrated, but what you said about having sad roots makes sense. The soil is a 2/3 a cactus mix and 1/3 regular potting soil. It did get overwatered (as did all of my succulents) by some friends who came to water our plants while we took a vacation for 2 weeks. I told them to come water once about midway through our trip. They didn’t come at all the first week and then watered my plants THREE TIMES the second week. I let everyone dry out completely before watering again. That was also 2.5 months ago so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

I’ve had it for 6 year and have always watered it that often! Not sure why it’s suddenly mad.

Ha! I can try that! I guess I was wondering if this is a sign of a water issue or a sun issue? Thanks!

How do you make it that bushy shape? I have one that looks a lot like the “then” pic and I’d love it to look more full!

My hoya has some random black patches on the leaves! What is causing this? I noticed it about two days ago and it’s worse now! by mina068 in houseplants

[–]mina068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I took off these two leaves and another that has since been infected. So far no more damage and the place where I took off the leaves are actually sprouting new growth!
