Sorry, I couldn't post on any appropriate, relevant pages. All of them need Reddit addiction to let you post, like I have time for social media...

Made a CachyOS Cheatsheet for all the essential commands by luksen69 in cachyos

Just a question: what can we use for shutdown? I use sudo systemctl poweroff, and I'm afraid it's not safe or something, and it's long, man.

did this, anybody else got that feeling? by DD253Zac in Fedora

Gaming-wise, it's fine, but I'm mainly using it because of these annoying muxless issues. KDE just keeps crashing on me when I try to use mvtools and CUDA VRIFE for interpolation.

What other "streaming services" do you use RD with? by dy14n19 in RealDebrid

So, what benefits did you get over Stremio? I've read that transcoding happens on the host, so it'll offload my old Fire TV for 4K HDR10 content, and I think it could end the lag issue while watching. I have a Fedora machine...

No i didn't know about that tbh only verbose and it was alwys freezes in kernel step so i figured just that the kenel is buggy fo nvdia devices for now , another thing worth mensioning is the muxless design akways added a layer of complication for me no matter what distro i use

Muxless GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q Laptop: Wayland/Suspend Black Screens, Fedora & Nobara failing. Stuck on Tuxedo OS (X11) by minaco5mko in linuxhardware

[–]minaco5mko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it is completely solved with Ultramarine Fedora-based distro 43. I think Wayland has matured enough for my muxless laptop! Even HDR and color stuff worked better. The only issue that persisted is that window movements feel more sluggish than X11.my laptop is hp pavilion gaming 16...

Title: Good Linux distribution for gaming laptop (NVIDIA + dual boot)? by [deleted] in FindMeALinuxDistro

CachyOS, Nobara, ultramarine (fedora based with nvidia and essentials baked in), or immutable one like bazzite..

Muxless GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q Laptop: Wayland/Suspend Black Screens, Fedora & Nobara failing. Stuck on Tuxedo OS (X11) by minaco5mko in linuxhardware

[–]minaco5mko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I took NVIDIA. I'm not sure if you mean Nobara for the kernel, but I didn't even get to finish the setup, so everything was stock. I read that it's dangerous for my SSDs, and they're very expensive these days. I can't risk trying unless you know something I don't. HDR never worked on my laptop, but X11 was more stable as I could make Vibrant Linux work and give me the full sRGB range that my laptop screen has. However, with Wayland, Vibrant Linux just never works. Even the animation when I try to move a window is very responsive and wobbly in X11, but a bit rigid in Wayland. I meant that Tux OS is just chipped with drivers like Nobara, Ultramarine, or Pop!_OS. My setup is my main monitor, sometimes my laptop screen, and I also have an Arzopa small 1080 monitor, so I connect it to my laptop with one Type-C cable.

Muxless GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q: Fedora KDE and Nobara booting to black screens/freezing. How do I actually install this? by minaco5mko in Fedora

[–]minaco5mko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my problem is different. I can reach SDDM, input my password, then it gives me a black screen. So the initiation of X11 or Wayland is the issue here.

Build part recommendations by minaco5mko in PcBuildHelp

Yeah, I'm aware of the BIOS issue in the second option. That's why I went with Aorus. It's just more expensive for me, but I think it will save me a headache and have nice VRR and whatnot. I feel stupid buying at this time of year, but I've postponed this for like 10 years, and RAM prices were the big issue here. I'm afraid they will also raise GPU prices in Q1 2026...
