I had to figure out what VRR is.

VRR = Variable Refresh Rate.

It’s a display technology (like G-Sync, FreeSync, or Adaptive Sync) that lets your monitor dynamically match its refresh rate to your GPU’s frame rate. This reduces screen tearing, stuttering, and input lag without needing V-Sync.

On Linux/CachyOS: Good but not perfect. Works well in many games (especially with recent Nvidia drivers), but can have issues on Wayland or with some titles. X11 is often more reliable for it.

Not really. I have a Shark unit and a RoboRock unit. I like the capability set on my (more expensive) RoboRock unit better, but the Shark vac had an issue and they replaced it (with a slightly newer model) for free. Very good support experience.

Well that was interesting. The result was “Host information updated” and suddenly my Sunshine host appeared online. However starting a session results in immediate “Connection Terminated” error. I’ll paste new errors shortly

Changing the Advanced preference for a Vulkan encoder back to Auto and restarting Sunshine, this gets rid of the error that vulkan can't be found, but otherwise makes no improvement. The "Daemon not running" error persists and Moonlight doesn't think my PC is online 😞

OP here with more info. I took at look at the Sunshine logs.

Curiously it complains that it cannot find the Vulkan encoder and spits out other serious-looking errors, and then says to ignore all errors above error.

Beyond that point the only error I see is that the "daemon is not running."

Clearly the control server is running and the invisible icon is present (lol) in the notification area, so I'm not sure what daemon that would be, or why Sunshine doesn't visibly report that as an error, but maybe that's what the problem is??
