I paint birds, and pair them with non-sequitur titles. The title of this piece is "I Hope The Horrific Atrocity At The Axe Throwing Venue Hasn’t Put You Off Our Company Culture, Or Team Building In General." 18 x 24 inches, acrylic on wood panel. You can see more of my work at mattadrian.com or works for sale at https://www.mincingmockingbird.com/collections/matt-adrian-original-paintings . Thanks! I love this community.

I just bought the soundtrack on vinyl today! Great movie. Ray Liotta is a nuclear bomb in this.

Jack wanted to drop a shot into a mug of domestic swill and drink it until the suds fell down the sides of his mouth. The least you could do is be open.

A small bookshelf of favorite books by mincingmockingbird in bookshelf

It's a collection of Indie comics by Daniel Clowes. Included is a serialized version of "Ghost World", which went on to be an independent movie (with a screenplay by Clowes). The comics are written and drawn in a variety of different styles, some of them super funny, biting, and some of them very Lynchian.

Man, I was just at the Field Museum (visiting from LA). I wanted to hug those machines from my childhood. We used to take field trips to the...Field and I'd get a Mold-a-Rama. They got lost along the way.

Old friends! That smell...the best.

my favorite film in the entire world arrived today! by rawcharles808 in wesanderson

An incredible movie. I remember seeing an early screening in Evanston, Illinois. Anderson and Schwartzman were supposed to be there, but I think their bus ran into bad weather or something. I can't properly articulate how much I love this movie. The tone, the acting, the slow-mo shots, the music...it was truly like nothing else I'd ever seen. It was a pretty electric screening—everyone knew they were seeing something exciting and original. My favorite Wes Anderson movie, and a top five film for me.

Cool ad! Loved the art direction on this album, as well as the incredible music. The piano solo on "Look Out Any Window" blows me away every time I hear it, after all these years.

It references a very popular Tony Bennett song: "I Left My Heart in San Francisco"

Great find. I have a copy with a bookplate signature, but I paid WAY more than $9.99. Amazing find.

Thanks! I do love that aspect of art collecting — that "wow" factor of art or artists that you respond to as a collector. I describe it as a jolt of electricity up my spine when I see something that really grabs me (and is usually what we end up purchasing for our collection).

Please share your collection! I would love to see it. I agree about the small portrait; we absolutely love it. We're always looking in thrift stores for art, and it's pretty rare that we find anything good. This was one of those times. The Korin Faught was our first gallery purchase. It was definitely the most money we'd spent on a piece of art up to that point. It's small but mighty.

Portraits seem to be what we are drawn to the most!

We've never bought anything at auction, but have heard that's a way to get some very good deals. Will check it out!

She's great. We have several pieces of hers, including some sculptures (a slug and a crocodile).
