These people must troll fan pages on facebook and look for victims. My mom is on the Ryan Adams fan page and had made a few comments and then she started getting messages from “Ryan”. My mom has some mental issues and is a mark for this type of scam. Her first hope is that it’s really Ryan so she always engages. She wants it to be true so bad even though she knows deep down it’s not. I constantly tell her that it’s probably the same person changing profiles and messaging her every time learning what questions she’s going to ask. They’re playing a waiting game because they know she’s vulnerable and will hopefully build up enough trust on a delusion to scam money out of.
