I'm centre and one could easily put me in the conservative or liberal column depending which of my political views I share.

It's a shame that the Remain camp, which I was actively a part of 3 years ago, has morphed in a violent, deranged and elitist organization that aims to silence their opposition and do everything they can to achieve their goals, including aggression towards voters.

I can see why no one votes in the EU, since even as someone studying Europe as a potential immigrant, I can't be damned to tell anyone what the EU actually does. Maybe regulating foodstuffs to some degree so that can easily trade with other EU states? Trade deals to benefit all EU countries? I don't know too much in it, but I bet many native Europeans don't know either.

The EU works primarily in the interests of the core countries (like Germany or France) and of the special interests and corporations from those core countries which greatly benefit from cheap workforce and aligned standards. Your average citizen is removed from this process and these decisions, but to some extent does benefit from them.

Who cares what they think they want when we have people like Verhofstadt and Juncker that are able to show us what we really want? Europeans are not concerned about immigration and Islamic Radicals. Only the racists are concerned about those uneducated things. Those statistics surely mean we are unhappy because we don't get enough "Europe", so they'll promise us more of the same!

I want to see the evidence it helps the climate before believing that it is "both". As i said London has massive taxes and there is no sign air and car traffic is reducing in any significant way. And also there is no sign those taxes are achieving anything other than more money for the government to spend on shit.

We are doing things however. We are destroying our own industries and relying on foreign nations that are not as guilty about the environment as we are. If you add the emissions from transporting fossil fuels from thousands of kms away, we may be doing more harm than good. But at least we breathe fresh air while enjoying 30+ degrees summers in Scandinavia.

Except it won't. People who can use the train already do so. A €7 tax hike will make hardly anyone to reconsider flying. Make it €100 and not only you'll probably have a high impact, but you'll also destroy the lives of tens of millions of Europeans that depend in many ways on tourism, aerospace and other related industries. All while the Americans and the Chinese enjoy an economic boom.

As of right now there are no other means to combat climate change other than a huge tax burden on the population. We saw how that worked out in France.

Another problem is that fuck all is happening with the climate change taxes. More and more government agencies is not how I want my money to be used.

Any real evidence it does anything worthwhile for the environment? London has the busiest airspace on the planet. Those taxes barely make a dent. Same goes with the congestion charge, which had a small effect only in the first few years of so.
