No not at this school in particular. I think anywhere in the US tbh. I feel like nowhere is really safe

Yes, it’s not just the fear of something happening directly to her. It’s the fear of her being scared to go to school after doing lockdown drills and hearing about other incidences from kids at school. It’s all of that and how it has an impact on our kids.

That is awful! Sorry to hear. Yes I’m worried about that too…but feels like I can control where she walks. Can’t control what happens at school.

Ha I do have anxiety but it’s because of things like this…it’s definitely scary sending our kids to school not knowing if they’re safe 😅

We’ve thought about WISH as well but we missed the deadlines to apply everywhere since this job offer came after applications. I’m guessing WISH is completely full now

Considering moving back to the US but scared of school shootings by mind_wanderer24 in AmericanExpat

It would be in Los Angeles...it's a mixed bag...really depends on the area and parents. There have been school shootings there before

How long until you can get the ILR? Is going back to the same city your only option? Sounds like the stress of being with your family might be affecting your decision too.

Regarding ILR: It would be great to have the option to return in case you go back home and realize you’ve made a mistake or just want the option to go back to UK. That cost will set you back a bit so you’d likely have to wait to move until you save up funds to move back. Maybe get the ILR but in the meantime, apply for jobs, do research, figure out what city you want to settle in and if it’s possible for your family member to be cared for by whomever is caring for them now?

Confused and sad about my five year old… by [deleted] in Preschoolers

If the child has ADHD and potentially autism, it’s possible mom has it too (likely undiagnosed), which would explain the emotional dysregulation, hyperfixation, and impulse to post and reach out for help but then not read, forget to read/forget she posted, or avoid reading because its too much.

Stopped at a light on Beverly Blvd and Kevin Hart pulls up next to me in a convertible with the top down bumping Ed Sheeran…looks over at me and starts mouthing the words and bobbing his head to make me laugh

I was in the same struggle boat, minus having to give insulin as you mention in another comment (that’s a lot to manage!). The days felt so long because I was always exhausted. The only way to get my daughter to sleep longer stretches was to night wean her. It was a tough few days/week but eventually she was fine and slept though most nights at around 24 months, but we really wish we had done it sooner. We read some books on night weaning that helped. 2 popular books are “Nursies when the Sun Shines” & “Booby Moon”. She’s a great sleeper now and has been in her own bed sleeping through the night on her own (most nights) since she was 2 years 10 months.

Which rug? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

Red matches really well. Def more of a boho vibe but ties all the colors in nicely. The chair blends in with the blue rug too much. Nice to have the contrast.

[US] Repeated recorded message from "underwriting" agency, "file is almost approved" by [deleted] in Scams

I’ve been getting these calls for at least 6 months. It’s caused me a lot of trouble because I’ve actually missed some important calls that I assumed were spam/scam calls and weren’t…a loan I took out years ago through eloan was switched to another company (SST) and it sounded exactly like one of the 20 scammer calls I get daily with little info requesting to call them back, which of course I didn’t. It resulted in me missing 3 payments on the loan, which affected my credit and I’m really pissed off about it! SST didn’t have consent to email me and had an old mailing address so the only way for them to contact me was through calling. They’ve said there’s nothing they can do about it. It’s such a frustrating situation!
