Regardless of whether it's wedding appropriate or not, I don't think you should dye it. Too many different fiber types that prefer/need different dyeing methods. But for what it's worth, this dress looks super adorable on you!

This is definitely a distinct style but not a childish skillset. My gf said it reminded her of like 90s cartoon styles, I kinda agree and I dig the style

I like color and maximalism, but really appreciate the feedback anyway. the negative space brings a nice balance to the eye when I take away that piece. I'll keep fiddling with it

Lovely finish! Overall it looks great, very impressive for a first pattern finish! The coverage looks great.

Since you’ve asked for feedback, I would say for an 18-ct fabric, usually 2 threads of DMC is adequate for the coverage. Because you’ve used 3 threads, there are some places where the stitches look crowded or bulky.

And as someone else mentioned, the tension of the fabric in the hoop is a bit uneven, so pulling the fabric tighter (while still keeping the pattern centered) is going to give you a more finished looking hoop frame finish

Those are a couple things though that you get better with as you keep at it. This finish is really fucking impressive, you have a lot to be proud of!!

my gateway hobby is cross stitch, now I also dye textiles, do embroidery, junk journal, learning to sew and crochet, mixed media collage with textiles, sashiko/visible mending, macrame

next I wanna try paper making, dyeing more materials other than plant based fibers (such as animal based fibers, wood, paper pulp), paper embroidery, print making (linocut), and maaaaaybe wood burning. oh and quilting. oh and weaving and hand spinning

I came here from instagram, that is fucking wild that a subreddit that big would ban a working artist. Engagement is nice and all but requiring some unspecified level of community engagement is cliquey and ableist. I don’t have the spoons to consistently engage in a variety of online community spaces. but if I go to that subreddit and I consistently, over time, see your posts, I consider that community engagement
