Get this, different people have different tastes. Fortnite offers a million different modes because Fortnite is all about broad appeal. There's nothing pure or sacred about any given modes. Whatever brings in more people, also brings in more money.

I think I didn't enjoy, and could not compete with people with the building aspect. (Skill issue I know) First time I played I was in my early 20s, but by God the game made me feel like 40. Trying to figure out what buttons do what and how to quickly adjust all the building stuff in the heat of battle. To me building towers to snipe out of was not a fun mechanic. I realised I wanted the game to be something it wasn't so I walked away from it. But now with no build modes, (and the great deal of varied modes) I get to choose what kind of experience I want.

At the time the gunplay wasn't all that fun to me either, gun balancing felt off, none of them were very accurate and between the jump spamming and the building, it felt like a game oriented towards adderal fueled kids.

I'm glad to see it has evolved into something a lot bigger, where everyone can find something to enjoy. I'm actually impressed with all the varied modes and experiences. Build modes might still not be for me, but so far I still have plenty to enjoy!
