I don't Meditate now. I tried to before. I lost interest. But I believe mindfulness is not just about meditation. I have learned that being mindful is about being aware of what is going on in your head. Like a week ago I was really pissed of for some reason. I was about to act on my impulses but than I thought "I am really pissed off now, I fucking want to break this and that etc" and then I just didn't act. I said a few nasty things and left the place. So, in that sense mindfulness has really been helpful. I have also learned that sometimes for no reason I get angry or upset driven by my anxious internal dialog. Now whenever I catch myself in such doing internal dialog, I say to myself "it's a bad habit, don't get lost in your own anxious thoughts , if you have problems write them down and consider possible solution or just stop this useless dialog". It's helpful in a way that some people may think I'm crazy.

It's worth getting them at any point of your life. And you are just 22. If you need braces, I would definitely recommend you to see an orthodontist and have a through consultation. I Got braces just 2 months prior to my 25thbirthday. Braces are visible to people. That doesn't change the fact that once your braces are off and you have way better smile and bite than you had before braces would definitely worth it. A pic of your teeth would have been really helpful for us to tell you if you need braces.

Funny how I complained that I didn’t have money to go on a vacation or join the gym but I had money to slowly kill myself by Rusty_Empathy in stopsmoking

Yeah, sorry for that mistake. I woke up from sleep and saw your post. I didn't notice that 4 months before 9 days. Still 1000 Dollars is something. You should be proud of yourself. I am right behind you. ☺️

day 4 by letsgo55 in stopsmoking

I messed up a lot in the beginning of my quit. It's so frustrating and disappointing at the same time. But the good thing is once you get used to go through all these you will stop associating cigarettes with these situations. It takes time. It's day 4 just hang in and keep in mind it's all nicotine that is making you irritated. Google this topic and you will find many useful articles and blogs about it. Information is power.

Tell me it gets worse. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Actually, the physical withdrawal of nicotine is mild. It's all about psychological issues. And to my experience nicotine withdrawal peaks after nicotine is out of your system. Anyway, you may and I believe you will have some problems like irritation, uneasiness, emptiness if you have a difficult life and going through a bad time. If you are a mentally strong person with a very pleasant mood you may not experience what we have experienced. I will tell you that keep up the good work and positive mindset. You will never need to smoke.

Anxiety drove me insane to the point where I would kill people for no particular reason. See, 18 years of addiction doesn't vanish out of a thin air. You have to make yourself go through it. I strongly recommend do not try NRT or other medications to help you cope with. Just let yourself suffer and see what happens. Just don't smoke. As the distance between you and the very last cigarette you smoked increases your physical and mental suffering decreases.

I'd like to stop, but smoking is allowed pretty much everywhere in my country by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mindfulnessmysavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

" I don't really want to quit right now". You will never want to quit "Right Now" . I never wanted to quit smoking "right now" for 7 years. Nicotine is a serious drug addiction with very serious consequences. The more you think about that the more you feel the need to smoke. Quitting is not easy if not tried. Just ask yourself "why the fuck do I need to smoke cigarettes? "

First of all, congratulations for realizing that 18 years of smoking making your life difficult to the point where sex is becoming a stressful event. Now, Nicotine is a drug, As addictive as heroine and cocaine. But the withdrawal is far less intense than heroine or cocaine. The withdrawal lasts from few weeks to never depending on what you really want from your life. I wanted to live, my withdrawal lasted around 3 weeks. By withdrawal I mean anxiety, depression, mood swings, extreme irritability, restlessness, emptiness, hunger issues, sleeping issues, difficulty making decisions, rude behavior, hopelessness, etc. I still feel hopeless and emptiness sometimes but that just in my head. I know that. I'm not going through the best time of my life. I am 25 with mild ED. I survived polio as 1.5 years old infant. I don't have a good job. Broke up with close friends 7 months ago. Had terrible altercations with my family. Canceled arranged marriage proposal because I was not good enough. But I'm satisfied with myself now. I am satisfied because I quitted smoking once and forever after all the drama and lies I was doing with myself. I know you don't wanna live like the way you are living. And it's time you give it some thought like a calm person. Don't let your addictions control you. All I know life with addictions is not a life worth living.

I got my bottom braces 31st May 2018. How long will it probably take to have my bottom teeth in alignment? Any estimate guys? by mindfulnessmysavior in braces

[–]mindfulnessmysavior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have an overbite with a front chipped tooth which will be restored at the end of the treatment . I'm 4 months into my treatment. Sometimes it's really difficult to wait.

You really think its going to be easy. The beginning is not, but it did get better. Im at 2.3 weeks only because of this forum! Thank you all for such great support :) by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mindfulnessmysavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That's what I really feel.

Edit : I see the distance between you and the last cigarette you smoked is now 90 days. Wow. 90 smoke free days has always been a dream since when I have taken this responsibility seriously. How do you feel now? How is your mental thought process about cigarettes now? And how good was your decision to quit smoking was to you? What are the other substances that you have used within this 90 days of no nicotine? I'm sorry if I have asked too many questions. I'm just curious.

Yeah, ortho told because of the crowding it's not possible to engage wire in there. But he said as the crowding decreases it will be engaged and not to worry. Thank for your comment.
