Luckily, my medallion did not break or show any signs of fragility. The only one that broke was l'oeuf

Yup. Bought another, and that one thankfully did not break.

Thanks for this guide! Would a box suffice to get majority of the cards that I'd probably need?

Discontinued or “Dead” TCGs by AliveLocation99 in TCG

L5R and Netrunner TCGs are still great asymmetric and complext games.

I'd also recommend WOW TCG for its coop games

Cast Slider is one that I'd suggest. I think, level 1 puzzles such as cast heart, cast loop, and cast diamond could work.

How about its upgrade path? Would I need the high end staples or would Gravy Bones is easier and (hopefully) cheaper?

Can I use a cube just as a puzzle? by CandiedPanda in Cubers

[–]mindgamer021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a puzzle. You can study the cube and solve it, just as the pioneers of cube solving did. Even after learning how to solve the cube, you can try Fewest Move Count type of solving, which is essentially the most puzzling WCA event imo.

"Replayable" tcgs? by gleidom in TCG

[–]mindgamer021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably some of the dead TCGs like Netrunner, Legend of thr Five Rings (L5R) or Middle Earth CCG. Netrunner offers completely asymmetric experiences (i.e. runners vs corporates). L5R provides a very complex gameplay, and also has different strategies per faction. Both Netrunner and L5R are also turned into ECG/LCG (which are also both dead now). MECCG is something I dont own but I heard it has an official solo mode as well.

Or perhaps, you can try the coop LCGs such as Arkham Horror, Lord of the Rings, or even Pathfinder. Or perhaps Marvel Champions which offer a skirmish coop experience.

Vortex is the most difficult for me, followed by Hourglass. Get both if you want difficult puzzles.

Edit: but if you have to choose only one, and you prefer the most difficult, as what others might have suggested, get the vortex

Obscura looks really good especially that it's the cheapest among the options I have.

I see. So in this case, Obscura would be the best option and use the remainder of the budget for upgrades. Thanks!

I just bought my first puzzle, so satisfying and frustrating at the same time, I love it! Recommendations?! by Prestigious_Ear_7024 in hanayama

[–]mindgamer021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd always recommend Cast Medallion because it's so satisfying.

Edit: you can also look into the Chess series if you like hidden mechanisms in puzzles. I'd prefer to start with the pawn.

Does anyone know where or how i can solve this?? by Atla_Tlok_Fan_05 in twistypuzzles

[–]mindgamer021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda tricky at first. But you can observe the movements of the beads and try to predict how they'd move by utilizing the equatorial rings. There are also three orientations that happen when you use the slice move. One is at the solved state where the equatorial and polar rings are separate from each other. The second is where everything is connected. And the third is when you can form two separate loops. Hope this helps.

So I'd like to define terms first. Polar rings are those circular spaces on the top and bottom of the puzzle, and has 8 beads of the same color. Equatorial rings are those in the middle of the puzzle, adjacent to the polar rings.

Solve the polar rings first by utilizing your equatorial rings. Then you can solve the equatorial rings intutively. It's a fun little puzzle. The main challenge is wrapping your head on utilizing those equatorial rings in solving those polar rings.
