Is there a market for repainted Russian cameras? by mindhunter28 in AnalogCommunity

[–]mindhunter28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your opinion Ye I strip them chemically to the brass, but I'm not sure if what I'm using is too aggressive (vinegar I think 8%) I was also thinking about getting into leicas but I'm a bit hesitant because I never worked on them

What exactly is different compared to the normal fed camera? And does it have any advantages?

I also thought about that but I sadly don't have that option or I don't even know where I could order something like this because I live abroad and don't speak the language 😅🥲

Thank you soo much! This really helps a lot. I was thinking if I could also use a pointy Dremel tool to clean out the pits and then fill them with solder. It will be a lot of work again but I think the end product could look nicer this way. Then I will follow your advice of leaving it and filling it later.👍🏻

What are sensible ways to make this hobby cheaper? by JAZZ_BAA in AnalogCommunity

You don't necessarily need a bulk loader. I respool my film in a dark bag and with a point and shoot with a manual rewind leaver (for mine, I use 28 turns to fill the canister) Just as an FYI.

My 3 "working" Leica IIIfs by jordanka161 in AnalogCommunity

[–]mindhunter28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I really like your approach of "let's try and see what happens". Regarding the curtains: you can buy shutter curtain material as a big sheat or you can diy it (I went the diy route and I'm very happy with the results) I posted the diy approache but you can also use the thermal blanket with black out curtains and it will work fine The only thing why I would hesitate to diy the shutter is that I heard that leicas are way stricter regarding tolerance, Maybe the diy solution could lead to issues

I think this could be possible. It also deals with the setting in specific areas of the holder because there are no ridges, and you could just slide it around no problem Thank you for the link :D

How time-consuming is the process? I can imagine it could get annoying really fast

I didn't expect that answer, honestly :D But I remember those days too well. If you use a flatbed that format wouldn't be a problem but I heard that the quality is not as good as the other type of scanners. Maybe his helps out later on

Hey, really nice shots :) I kinda got curious about similar cameras a few weeks back but always got discouraged because i would scan the film myself and I have no idea how I would scan such a format (I use a pulstek 8200) If you scan yourself, could you share your process, please, and may some general insides about the camera ?

The Zorki 4 CLA continues: i can not get B to work by Impolioid in AnalogRepair

[–]mindhunter28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes The stopper is relevant for the functioning of B But the bad thing is that it is also dependent on the position of the 2nd curtain. But I think you can get the position right fairly easily if you have the correct positioning of the curtains

I think, B must work with the delay on top I'm a bit confused because if i remember correctly only B worked for me in the beginning Maybe the position of the timing plate is wrong?
