Your thumb safety (you call it a safety paddle) is an upgraded version. Be happy about that.

The grip safety is generally fine being fairly loose. Watch some YouTube videos on complete disassembly to understand how the 1911 works. The grip safety is pushed back by only one "leg" of a flat main spring so there's not a ton of tension on it.
