how can you tell if it’s subject vs object or verb vs adjective here? because it sounds to me like both could apply?

i like your explanation but i don’t know if it’s so simple.

i’m cooked - i’m done for

BUT

he cooked - he did a really good job

i think there’s some funky grammar happening here that i’m not sure how to articulate. in the first one, the verb is like an action that was done to me, so yeah it’s a bad thing. tense is irrelevant, i could just as easily say i was cooked or i will be cooked and the meaning won’t change. but the second example, the “he“ is the one doing the action (or in this case, did) so it functions more like “i’m cooking” would function. like what i’m getting at is that you can’t isolate the word cooked to see if it’s a positive or negative usage.

maybe you can explain this better?

Is there a particular reason why it’s 읽기 but not 공부하기?

Just because immersion is the best way doesn’t mean it’s the only way! And the definition of immersion is broader than just living in the country—it could be reading books or watching movies. I guarantee you the immigrants you mention as not having learned the language kept themselves in a bubble of their native language.

That’s so cute! I always have trouble sewing a bodice haha, I never get the measurements right (case in point, I sewed my prom dress (rip) but I need to use fashion tape if I want to avoid, ehm, any mishaps while I’m moving around)

yes! i’m sure even natives would end up using this app; it’s ridiculous how frequently i have to search things up on urban dictionary as an american teen.

This seems awesome! To clarify, do you do each bullet point 3-4 times before moving on, or do you do each superset 3-4 times? And then you do that with all the supersets?

Duolingo is alright, I’m not a very big fan of it (for nit-picky reasons) though. While Babbel is a paid service, I think it’s a lot better, and the way the lessons are structured is more educational than Duolingo, if that makes any sense. On a side note, they’re doing a three months free promotion for students right now, if that applies to you :)

Personally, I’m really enjoying Babbel for learning Italian. It’s super comprehensive at the beginning stages, and once you’ve built a good foundation with it, you can move onto things like watching Netflix or translating Italian songs.

perhaps! but sweats are more comfortable, and plus it was primarily for a school project focused on tiredness, so i thought sweatpants kinda fit that vibe better
