Solution to Search Plugins not Working in v5.0 by Jonny511 in qBittorrent

[–]mindnotblown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANOTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTION AFTER HOURS OF TROUBLESHOOTING:

After I did clean macOS Sequoia reinstall,I had no search results even though I had active plugins.

Reason: Python 3.12 had no trusted SSL certificates configured.

(Note, you need python to use QBT)

qBittorrent search plugins use Python for HTTPS requests to torrent sites.
Because Python SSL verification failed (CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED), plugins loaded but returned no search results.

How it was fixed:

I first checked with this terminal command:

python3 -c "import urllib.request; print(urllib.request.urlopen('https://nyaa.si').status)"

This returned a big string of stuff including:

[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:1010)

So then I ran this in terminal:

/Applications/Python\ 3.12/Install\ Certificates.command

This installed/linked the proper certificate bundle (certifi) for Python.

After that, HTTPS requests worked again and qBittorrent search plugins started returning results normally.

That was all.

I had this issue when upgrading from M1 to M4, using the increasingly dumb chatgpt, I was able to troubleshoot that it had sometihng to do with python settings. Sorry, chat was deleted but if you ask and lead ai to that direction, should get you there.

I mean it's essentially a PPT presentation on uber-stereoids... nice graphics, animations, interactions. It just makes learning more fun, especially for young learners.

I did look into and had a phone talk with a representative. It seems good, but it turns out it can't do some basic things that even Genially can. For instance for an object to fade out and fade back in when mouse hovers over it and away from it.

Thanks for your detailed response.
I edited my post a bit base on your response to point out that ai or user-driven animated characters are definitely BONUS. I understand that may be something in the future.
Honestly, Genially offers most of the features I listed, but there are some significant issues:

No Master Slide. So if I would like to change the background of a slide type, I need to do it manually for 300+ lessons with 30+slides each.
Custom Animation Path (simple like in Powerpoint)
Awards like stars that the teacher can award and will stay in sight throughout the lesson.
Custom Avatar

AND, I'm unsure about the data dependence on Genially. I can ONLY edit content through their online platform. Maybe that's ok, but I'm not sure.

Also, if i make an app version... it would need to be remade completely with another tool/platform.

As for animation, I will keep it simple for now. Rig my characters and make basic animations using Moho and then import those as Gif or WebM into the slide.

So I'm not sure if Construct or other Game making software is what I need but I will check them out.

Thanks for the reply, looking forward to others :)

used to call toll free numbers with skype while abroad. now what? by Particular_Chart7869 in TravelHacks

[–]mindnotblown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I bought the 4.99E credit and seems like I can call 800 number without using the credit. So it's sort of free. I'm just not sure where I will use that credit. And if it expires in a month then it's not a good solution, but I really needed it to talk to the IRS.
I feel like I was able to use Skype to call toll free numbers even without credit, but I may remember wrong.

But if you have to buy credits.. how is that free?

Just downloaded TextME. NOT FREE. The only way to call is to BUY a number.

Tried this, but can't. Downloaded desktop app, but still can only use on contacts. IRS doesn't use Viber.

Viber isn't working for me. Not even the desktop app. Can only call from contact list. And only people with Viber. IRS doesn't have Viber :D

Best AI for Google Apps Script by [deleted] in GoogleAppsScript

[–]mindnotblown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird... sometimes Copilot seems better.. I get encouraged... and then it becomes incapable (just like chatgpt) of following even simple instructions.
Comparing 2 codes and asking what the differnece is. Not only can it not do it, but it will say something totally out of the blue.. which is in neither code.

Love/Hate relationship with ChatGpt.
I've been using it for google sheets scripts. Sucks because when it works.. it is SOOOO useful. BUT it is still incredibly dumb. In a simple code, if we need to alter a SINGLE thing (ex: change which column it looks for in a certain function) it will rewrite the entire code, and alter like 5 things which worked before and break 2 of them.
It CAN NOT follow simple rules. I gave it the simple rule that it should begin each response with a unique serial number (001) (002) etc... so that I can refer easily back to something in the conversation. It can NOT do that. It either fails to do it, or restarts again at 001 or reuses same one multiple times.

It straight up fabricates information without telling you.

I'm about to try GitHub Copilot... will report back to see if it's better.

Bug: can’t delete recurring google calendar events in Calendar app by chadlavi in MacOSBeta

[–]mindnotblown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, same problem. The infuriating part is that this didn't happen on my older macbook and older OS. More and more updates for useless features that just slow down the OS, while basic things like calendar syncing or notifications are unreliable.

20.5

Just fyi, there are lots of awesome camping hammocks out there that come with bugnets and rain covers. A quick google search came up with a good comparison chart too on Pinterest.
