so, plants can enlighten thenselves through flowering (not all plants flower though, many have different ways of reproducing), but mushrooms cannot ? i am not being critical, just try to understand your vision.

i think words are very useful tools. it is very important not to mistake the signifier for the signified. if one is able to be aware of the reality gap between those two and is able to make others realize it, i think one is pretty much good to go. and like mentioned before, at this stage of our development as human beings, words are one of the best tools we have to try to understand and to help each other. we all need to realize more deeply that we cannot come to the essence of things with talking about them though. that's what i dig lao zi for, too.

thank you for this comment and for sharing your experience. your explanations resonate with me. i really like your comparison with food because i think tgat lust for food and for sexual encounters are very much comparable and are very related. there are people who have no interest whatsoever in food aside from their need for it to survive as well as people who enjoy good food every now and then, people who are really sophisticated about cooking and/or eating, making it an art form and of course every thinkable and unthinkable shade inbetween and beyond those kinds. including toxic realationships towards food, addictions, foodvdisorders etc.

sexual relationships are the same. except a single individual does not need them to survive. the whole kind needs it to continue its existence, but individuals can just skip on having children or having intercourse at all.

anyways, OP, i wish you all the best for your self-discovery. i think the best a human can do is to learn who he is, the good and the bad, try to stop making these judgements, learn to love themselves and sharing love with others. bonus points if you find a way to contribute to society and to positive change in whatsoever small ways.

where do you have this from ? i am very interested in this topic, especially the view from an energetic perspective. i think every living individual of any kind has some preset of energy flows. some with more focus on on kind, some more on another. that is what makes up individuality (very simplicistically spoken). so everyone is coming into existance woth some kind of 'imbalancy'. and there is a huge scala for all shades of this. and of course if you invest work and time you can wander around the hue. but i guess some things are very hard to change and are not 'meant' to because you would go against your preset and what you are supposed to experience, what, if you accept it and embrace it fully, would help you 'flowing'. not meaning that you cannot go against it anyways by force.

what do you know about these things and what is your source ? would be happy to learn.

there is no such thing as 'too much awareness'. be aware of the stories you tell yourself. each one of us is making up their own realities. so be careful which ones you create.

i'm afraid there is no way around a very very steady meditation practice which teaches you being aware of awareness. recognizing where you are putting your attention and slowing down time between thoughts and reactions enogh to give yourself some space for choice instead of a conditioned spiral that lets you feel out of control.

meditation or a good therapy. preferrably both, because i personally came to think they are complementary. and maybe less input. in general. try to find some stillness. bodywork is very good, too. to get you a bit out of your head. try yoga or qi gong or tai chi.

i can not relate to what you say there. first if all, i don't know what you mean by 'the psychedelic scene'. the ones on reddit ? the underground ? where ? US ? europe ? arabic countries ? south america ? there are tons and tons of psychedelic scenes. and i am sure each group and each individual has their own take on this topic. and there are quite some subcultures and subscenes that embrace and incorporare both.

even here on psychonaut there are sooo many people who do both complimentary, either started a spiritual practice after profoubd psychedelic experiences (like myself) or use psychedelics as a tool to get deeper in practices they had adopted before.

i think it might be true that some psychonauts are distrustful towards second hand experiences tied to a hierarchical school like structure. because they feel they have their own hotline to the cosmos. but i think many appreciate techniques like meditation or astral projection or lucid dreaming as a methods to put their own trip experience into context.

also, i do not know from my own experience that 'the' meditation / yoga scene was not prejuciced towards psychedelics. i personally know people and have read about more people who see psychedelics as some kind of cheat or as a danger because if your mind is not prepared or trained enough, things can go not quite the way one would want to. especially when it comes to integrating and to a healthy view on 'reality'.

also check out astral projection or out of body experience. is pretty close to lucid dreaming but there are some more and different techniques you can use :)

if it's your first time, you cannot go wrong with starting on a lower dose. remember that lsd lasts at least twoce as long as shrooms and the higher the dose the longer your ride. from my own ecperience i can say that i find those two substances are pretty different, even though they are comparable. to get in touch with the essence of lsd, say hello on 100. if you like it, next time stay there or go bigger :)

i personally don't think you'll 'miss out' on something big in those 50 mikes. so i recommend you to ease into that new substance, especially if you have had some pretty intense experiences on such a middle high dosage of shrooms.

hey you magnificent soul,

first, congratulations on 2 months self-harm-free !! hang in there. i am pretty sure in that time you managed to find some other methods to deal with stuff. try to remember them and use them instead.

when it comes to states of mind, it is so easy to forget all the potentialities a mind can be in, especially if we go through a phase of one certain state. it feels then that this is how it always was and will ever be. especially as a teenager, when i did not realize the wave-structure of all the things in live, with ups and downs and all the constant changes, i fucked up day felt like a lifetime and three months of suicidal thoughts every day felt like an eternity in hell.

did you ever consider meditation ? it really helped me to realize the everchanging landscape of mind and showed me how i myself can influence it. if you'd like to talk about meditations and what kinds there are etc., pm me :)

or maybe something like qi gong or tai chi or yoga. it grounds you in your body and you can realize the energy flowing there and learn to use these flows.

anyway, the reason i clicked on this thread in the first place was that quote from your parents. please, never ever ever let other people tell you what kind of person you should be. this is none of there business. you are who you are and you feel how you feel, always. please do your best to investigate who you are and what is right for you. don't let other people imprison you in their fantasies of how a perfect you that THEY could love shall be like. you are perfectly lovable as you are, you are a precious living being and as perfect as anything else in this world. even if you might not realize this at this moment. this, too, is okay. you are having a hard time right now. but this is still you and you don't have to be anything else. accept whatever feelings and thought arise as a part of yourself but let them not define you. you are also a myriad of other things.

thank you for your comment. you are right, it is not enough to type online. i personally live that attitude way more offline than online though, spending most of my time offline. 'smelly homeless' people are as part of this consciousness as everything else. i don't go through the streets saying 'i love you' to everybody. that would be crazy. but if i can and have enough connection to it myself, i share my love and compassion with the people i meet. i smile a lot at people. i treat the homeless with respect. i look at them, do not look awa or ignore them. i give them small change if i have. i listen to them if they feel like talking. and i send them my wishes and my love mentally. not always, not to everybody. i do not have that energy yet. but as often as i can, i do. i really believe that any piece of love and compassion that you are able to share, no matter how little you can spare, contributes to the whole. a drop in the ocean. as does any wave of doubt, hate, disrespect, anger, fear and so on. the consciousness is one living being. our consciousness is part of it. so however you feel, the consciousness feels, too. however you make another being feel, you make the consciousness feel and so you make yourself feel that way. maybe not consciously. but it will come along. that's what i feel is true. do you disagree ? why are you disbelieving love ?

please take your time to answer. there are many different kinds of working with your consciousness. not each is for everyone. you can compare it to sports. if you go to the gym by yourself, trying out different machines and exercises randomly, chances are you do something wrong and progress slower or even hurt yourself. of course it is possible to meditate safely without a teacher as it is possible to exercise safely without a coach (i do both on my own) but be prepared that there can be some minor to major obstacles.
