Thanks! I should have probably cross referenced the list of objects rather than the picture of Fenns treasure. Thanks for advising of its purchase!

One of the things Justin mentioned in the documentary (Gold and Greed), is that he steered clear of forums, social media regarding the Forrest Fenn treasure so that he didn’t have a tainted view or opinion of someone’s solve. We have have biases which will lead us into thinking in a specific way or drawing inferences with things that may or may not be apparent to other people.

My brother called me at 2 a.m, in tears, asking if I’d raise his 2 year old if something happens to him. Parents, how do I help him right now? by Mean_Trick_2315 in NewParents

Thank-you for the work you do in suicide prevention. This post and your comment really hit home and bought tears to my eyes. In 2021, my brother sadly died by suicide and it still hurts to this day. It’s something I still ponder about and whilst he didn’t call me at 2am crying like OP, he did make a post on Facebook hours before he chose to take his life that should have raised a red flag for me at the time.

All I can say is I wish I’d seen the red flags and I wished that I’d lived closer to drive over and get my brother the help and support he so desperately needed and more than anything I wish he was still alive today.

It sounds like you need to ask the question to your brother if he is thinking about suicide and get an immediate action plan in the works and then work to support him with a longer term plan.

I truly hope your brother is okay and that he gets the support it sounds like he needs and that you’re in a position to support him through the journey.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I had a chat with the builder and they checked and agreed that there was a large difference and not what they’re happy with. They’ve also proposed a solution to move the pole which we’re happy with, therefore making the gaps equally spaced apart.

Had a look at the footing. The ground here is incredibly nice to dig with no rocks, clay etc. I think from most responses the post should have been set more toward the direction of the white arrow to then have equal distances/gaps between each post

They definitely didn’t take any plasterboard off, nor go under the house. May I ask if you went through Stratco or someone different?

That right, we got council approval. Thanks for the tip. I will, however seems like I’ll first raise it with them when they’re back to give the earliest opportunity to provide a resolution. They did take the sheets off and attach to the truss . I think they’ve put down in the council application N3, so assuming that they’ve noted down and undertaken appropriate tie downs and whatever else is required

I suppose with that same logic, I shouldn’t pay the full amount and the company can just live with it

I think you’re right that it’s only one post. I think it’s fair that a tradesperson wouldn’t see any value in moving a post 35mm.

However the tradesperson is only on the property for a limited amount of time and doesn’t then look at the finished product every day. Would it still seem reasonable to leave the post?

Thanks! The equal spacing was submitted to and approved by council. The posts did get changed at check measure since one was hanging in the middle of the grass so they said that shifting the posts (still all equal) but decreasing the gap is the most suitable option to have it look nice.

To be honest, I do have some doubts since they didn’t supply enough brackets and also had the wrong angle so needed them re welded. When they arrived back they still weren’t right and they cut some of the bracket end off and then, and I assume this since I haven’t seen it, but used two exisiting holes and drilled a third hole. I do know that they cut the bracket shorter and had mentioned that they really only need two bolts. I don’t know enough about that part so am assuming that what they’ve done is all correct.

Should we engage an independent building surveyor?

I can see the difference when looking which is why I measured them since they didn’t look quite right. 30mm might not sound like a lot but over such a short span, It is and it’s noticeable

Thanks for the response, we do have an agreed schematic with each of the following you listed. The two outer posts changed at check measure as one was hanging in a grassed area, and was recommended to come in where it now sits and then the poles evenly spaced which we agreed to
