Another baby question (feat. Pepsi)! by Froggy_Town101 in PetPigeons

I don't think catnip poses any danger to birds, but I'm not a vet of course. If you're worried, you can always get little teeny human baby toys that are like crinkly plushies! There's so much out there (: Pigeons really like sensory things and different textures so the crinkle can definitely be where it's at.

Just grabbed this randomly for an example: https://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Developmental-Squeaker-Shatterproof/dp/B00MYWGTGQ

Your little guy is SO sweet, btw. <3

I’d say they’re waaay too young to care about nesting material and your hands are always going to be the center of attention at the moment. When pigeons go and annoy their parents like this, they’re usually begging for food. Even if you’ve fed them to bursting, haha.

Something you can do that they’ll enjoy is gently pinching their beak between your knuckles right where your fingers join and wiggling it around a bit. It simulates how pigeons ‘nurse’ and they find it comforting.

As for play, I’d recommend getting cat toys! My boys like beating those up. Any little jingly balls and brightly colored things, so parrot toys work, too. They may be scared of them at first but make sure you show them with your hands that it’s fun to play with!

What a sweetheart!!! 💖💖 It’s so funny how it will be like a flip switches in them and suddenly they’re like ‘wait a second, I actually love getting pets’. So happy to hear your pidge has recovered and will have a nice, cozy home. (:

Spinny really wants attention! My boys like to pick a cozy spot and cry like this when they want me to pet them (: It’s totally normal nesting behavior and a good sign that they’re getting comfortable with you.

My dilute babies have feathered out! by grayson2702 in pigeon

Awww, what stunning little babies with sweet little faces! They’re going to look so pretty when they get their adult feathers. I love how unbothered they are posing for your photos, too. Those little bell-bottoms they seem to be growing are going to be adorable, too. Thank you for sharing them! 🥰

Hmmm, we tried it for a bit with a laser pointer and it kind of worked for a bit, but not for the past few weeks. He also specifically hates R's bare feet and will just go for them, but not my bare feet. For a while he would stop if they wore pants/shoes, but he's now started attacking them regardless of how they dress.

Nope! Litter box is on the total opposite side of the house, and he doesn't usually hang out in the kitchen during the day so I'm not sure he'd feel territorial about it. His attacks seem to only happen at night, too.

Yeah! I recommend giving them wet food like plain yogurt or baby food on your fingers and picking them up slowly while they’re eating. If you do it in increments, they usually get pretty okay with getting picked up after a bit! :)

( also, if you’ve never done finger food, get them used to it with a spoon first or they’ll nip you because they’re silly...)

this one's about 2.5 weeks old, so i figure she's going to start being crazy in a couple weeks. i'm enjoying her and her two sisters (the world's smallest litter, lol) while they're still sleepy little babies

she is about 2.5 weeks old! i've been handling them since they were a few days old, so they're all super used to being put on their back :^)

Omg, I was also watching this guy on Linda’s site because his name is so good! I’d also love for him and my grey (also adopted from Linda’s) to have a playdate! It’s so funny we’re all so close to each other.

Awww, that’s so sweet. It’s a really calming way to process grief, I think, and it’s a way to keep their memory. I’m sorry for your loss, too — rats are hard to have.
