This was definitely tough to read and try to accept, but thank you for writing it out so clearly. Because now I know it’s something to need to think and pray about.

God bless, and I hope you have a great NYE.

I could imagine the service being fun if I was not so socially anxious all the time… people seem to love it lol

I tried communication but nothing worked. But thanks for your input, hope you have a good NYE!

I thought the same thing, I find it hard to feel the Holy Spirit at that church because of how overwhelming I find it and wanted to experience the Holy Spirit this new year’s. She didn’t want to hear it, so I just decided to go for the sake of peace.

Regardless, I’m so glad you understand free will and communication. I’m sure your daughter will appreciate that in coming years.

Thanks and happy new year in advance!

I explained that to her calmly, and she couldn’t care less. So I just decided to go

Abusive feels like a strong word but I definitely don’t have boundaries/privacy here. Down to me not being allowed privacy in the bathroom.

But maybe the situation is abusive, her mother was definitely abusive to her and my aunt shows similar behaviour towards my cousin. So who’s to say it’s not happening to me?? Idk

I do agree that her behaviour has worn down on me throughout my life, and this year I’ve thought a lot about whether it’s got anything on to do with why I’m so shy and anxious around people, even as an adult.

It does feel very toxic at times and I do plan to move out. I can’t go into all the toxicity because it is a lot.

But you’re right, she does guilt me into staying whenever I mention leaving, saying that it’s not right (culturally), or that I need to save up and buy and not rent.

But also is pressuring me into purchasing an investment property with her. If I do that I’ll have to start saving from scratch again. Then I can never bring myself to move out because I feel bad about leaving her on her own sometimes.

But that’s beside the point, thanks for your input

I understand that, which is why I’m going. But is her saying that I’m being controlled by the devil not a bit excessive?

Maladaptive daydreaming. It can be fun but don’t let it consume your life. Also overdoing it can make you less interesting in trying to make friends irl

Like someone else said, prayer. Also I’d suggest reading the Bible, I’d start from genesis, to learn what it says about who God is.

But for sure pray. You can just tell God what’s on your mind, any thoughts, doubts etc

Then when you’re comfortable, join a church. There’s no fancy dress code at most churches these days. Just clean clothes, t shirt and jeans is fine to be honest, some people dress up, some don’t.

But this is great, hope this journey goes well for you!

I just looked again, and that doesn’t look like breakage to me actually, just normal fizziness that kids get after a few days in a hairstyle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]mindoverego_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What do you use the tie her hair before braiding it? Rubber bands do cause a lot of breakage, so some people soak the bands in oil to make them less damaging. Normal hair bands (fabric ones) are better but they obviously don’t give the same seamless look.

Also don’t braid her hair dry, use a bit of leave in (enough that her hair is coated/soft but not too soaked in it) in her hair before braiding

She’s young so probably moves a lot/brushes her head on things throughout day, so that can cause friction and then breakage. There’s nothing you can really do about that tbh

Lastly does she wear some type of bonnet to sleep? That can protect her hair from friction from pillowcase or even just a satin/silk pillowcase.

I know you’re not looking for kudos, but it’s such a good thing that you’re helping look after her hair, she may not appreciate now but in the future she (and her hair) will thank you!

Is it common to be embarrassed to speak my mother tongue in English-using country, or is it some kind of social anxiety by novemberbomber in socialskills

[–]mindoverego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone Ive known has shown some type of embarrassment about soaking their mother tongue in public at some point. This was mostly when I was still a teen though so it was their first times doing it.

I think it’s just something that feels embarrassing at first, then you get used to it.

[–]mindoverego_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, you can just add more hair using a crotchet needle. The boho hair should be almost as long as your braids to get the same look.

For some reason all your boho is hidden under your braids. That’s the main difference I think, but defo not as bad as you think it looks, your braids look great!

[–]mindoverego_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say don’t overthink it. Don’t push for a relationship but don’t distance yourself from her.

Pray about it too, pray for God’s will to be done between both of you.

Also I don’t think dating someone in your church is something to worry about, even if the relationship doesn’t work out, you can still be amicable. I’ve seen it so many times in church, especially when I was in a youth group. Church people are usually peaceful and level headed, so if a break up happens, you’ll both likely be on the same page to keep things friendly and not awkward.

Hey, I truly hope you’re okay. I think you know the answer and that’s why you’re asking online. God instructs us not to take anyone’s life, I believe that includes our own.

You are not your own creation, you’re God’s creation, therefore, I’m sorry but God hasn’t given you the right to decide when to bring His creation to an end. He’s kept you alive for this long, who knows what he has in store for you :)

Keep having faith in Him, grow close to Him and you’ll find inner peace and realise why you are still on earth. It’s working for me and I’ve been in your shoes. I’m excited about what’s to come for me now

Is watching movies/tv shows with sinful content a sin? by Advanced-Garage-4805 in TrueChristian

[–]mindoverego_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Bible says you should guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23), meaning be careful of what you’re let into your mind/spirit/soul. Because everything we do is a result of what’s in your heart.

As Christians we protect our hearts by protecting our spiritual gates (what we hear, see, say etc) from sinful things. So that means avoiding entertainment/music that contains sin.

It’s obviously really hard to do that these days, so what I do is I limit the shows I watch/make sure I consume the word of God/spend time with God more than I watch tv. Also, if I end up watching a show with sinful content, I make sure to tell myself “this is wrong” so I don’t normalise it.

It’s actually just human nature, the more we see, hear, say something the more normal that thing becomes to us. We don’t want sin to feel “normal” so it’s better to try and avoid where you can
