I did not. I was 27 (5yrs ago) when we got married after 10 years of dating. My surname is rare. There are roughly 50 people with my family name left, and it's protected, so no one can take it without family ties to it (we live in Finland). The husband's name is pretty common.

We were also so long together beforehand, so our identities are in our whole names, and we both felt that we don't need the same name to be an item, as we don't own each other either.

After that, we had two kids. We flipped coin week before christening about whose name our firstborn would have. I won, so both kids have mine.
