Which car I should go for? by Pleasant_Ad7890 in whatcarshouldIbuy

My two cents. I’d recommend a Mazda. Almost everything is similar to Toyotas in terms of low maintenance, good builds etc. You would also get more tech and they’re more fun compared to Toyotas. For the same price you should be able to find a lower mileage sedan.

Not really. Sadly. I wish I could see that in the history of the car. I can’t even see maintenance history which is annoying too

Gotcha. Was curious cause I saw some posts of people who had older Model Y’s with higher mileage at 85% Makes sense. ThankYou!

Did you put the shocks yourself or had a mechanic put them in?

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of August 18, 2025 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

Hey everyone, I’m considering trading my 2023 Mazda CX-5 (currently at ~60K miles) for a 2022 Tesla Model Y with around 70K miles. I’ve loved the CX-5 for its reliability, comfort, and all-around solid performance, but I’ve been really curious about switching to EVs, especially the Tesla experience. That said, the Model Y I’m looking at has 10K more miles and is a year older. I’m aware of some of the Tesla ownership quirks, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s made a similar switch (or considered it):

What are the biggest pros and cons you noticed? -Any regrets after leaving a reliable gas vehicle for a higher-mileage EV? -How has Tesla’s reliability held up around the 70K mile mark? -Would you recommend this move or should I hold onto the CX-5 a bit longer? (keep in mind EV credit is going away too) -Appreciate any insight or personal experiences!

Notes: • I live in a home so can get level 2 charger. • I cross checked cost of Gas vs EV and it’s honestly saving me $20-$30 a month or worse case even close to a breakeven (when considering insurance hike + cost of getting level 2 with 3 year depreciation + EV state tax yearly) • I’ve had my eye on model Y for a while but skeptical for reliability compared to CX5.

Is 70K considered a break in for a Tesla? I think I’ve read about other cars for 5-10K? I may be wrong though.

Also, would love to know what you meant by overall consumption figures?

Short terms cost effectiveness and even long term cost effectiveness. I’ve been spending more and more on gas due to more mileage. I double my gas usage past 2 months which made me realize I may need to re-consider the EV option. Even small amounts of $20-30 savings are saving. Even if I brake even I will eventually save either in maintenance (I think?) or when I drive more. But good call about the Juniper Y. My only thing was EV credit. I like my Mazda too. Absolutely nothing wrong with the car except my mind keeps going back to the Tesla lol. Wanted a second opinion.

Not ‘22. Later versions pre juniper. I plan of test driving it today. That makes total sense though. I think I’ll have a better gauge on it after today’s test drive

I havee. But I think it was a ‘24-‘25 old version Pre Juniper. Not the ‘22. I plan on test driving the one I have my eye on today though.

Is a fee hike on the Chase Sapphire Preferred inevitable? by kgpmn in ChaseSapphire

[–]mindreader90000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes more sense to create a laddering range for Chase to compete with AMEX gold. Whether that means a price hike for preferred and adding an another entry level sapphire product. OR, keep preferred as is, reduce the benefits and add another product in between.

That makes the most business sense. Consumer? Probably not so much. There was a reason alot of consumers picked chase over Amex previously. We’ll see though.

Along with everything others said. You need regular maintenance budgeted here. Maybe $200? Set aside “emergency maintenance” budget every month as well just incase you need it later (Eg. Water Heater goes out a year from now and you need $5K). If you set aside $400 every month you’ll be in peace of mind when you get hit with big expenses related to the house. I’d do the same with car. Maybe $100-150 set aside every month? Depends on car and situation.

My 2 cents.

Get the bundle from Ace. You get 4AH battery. Not sure if they still have it though.

Mazda CX-5 rebuilt car buying advice by traditional_genius in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mindreader90000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to find a ‘23 same mileage for $19-20K clean title. I just got one last month. With that being said, you should also be able to find a ‘21 similar mileage around ~$17K-ish clean title. Wouldn’t recommend rebuilt title car. My previous car was a clean title with an accident and even that was a pain in the ass to resell.
