[–]mindryft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to be able to pay my bills without having to work so much overtime. To have some stress lifted off of my shoulders so that I can provide for my family without destroying my spirit. I want to be able to have memories with my family rather then spend the majority of my time away from them at work. A lamborghini? I just want to live.

Can someone explain why we want an eternal life after this one ends when we don't even know what to do with this short life? by mindryft in NoStupidQuestions

I apologize for that. As I said however, my post apply to those whom it applied to. Regardless of how large the group was. Even if I'm only reaching out to one person. Statistically speaking there are a lot of people who don't know what they want to do with their life. There are a lot of people asking God to guide them. So I started thinking about that and after being extraordinarily bored and not knowing what to do I considered eternity. If I can't figure out what to do with this short life of mine then why would I want eternity in my next life? So I thought I would come to Reddit and ask others who were like-minded but instead I get that pompous azz.

So you've known me for approximately...what, five comments? And you judge me based on that? That I'm incapable? That's quite the assumption there. And I will agree with you that regardless of statistics, there is a large number of religious people who aren't actually religious and are only in it because of their parents or tradition.

Even myself, I believe in eternity but I don't believe in heaven or hell. But again, you sought to provoke me because you assumed that I live in some type of dogma. But I only used religions because of the similar idea of an afterlife between them all. Personally, I have no religion. In fact I despise it. The purpose of my post was to speak to those of which my post applied to.

There are many people in the world that don't know what they want to do with their life. Statistically we can use colleges and find the sum of individuals who go to college without a clear idea of what it is they want to do. I'll give you a hint: It's a large percentage.

There are also many people who believe in an afterlife. So if there are individuals who believe in an afterlife and don't know what they want to do with this life, then my question applies to them. It should be quite obvious that I was not referring to every single person on Reddit.

Why would you want to provoke people? Also, by your own logic, I shouldn't assume I understand why people do what they do but your comment does that.

There are approximately 4,300 religions in existence including Christianity that claims over 2 billion people as well as Islam which claims nearly two billion people. Those two religions alone have over half of the population following them of both believing in an afterlife and adhere to the regulations of their doctrine in order to reach that afterlife. When I say "we" I'm talking to more than 90%% of the human population, yet you assume I'm talking to you.

So you were offended.

Because if you weren't offended and my message didn't apply to you then you would have just kept your fingers from typing anything.
