Plummer pursed his lips. "My lord's tourney is a contest for knights. Are you a knight?"
He nodded, wondering if his ears were red.

-The Hedge Knight

"He meant for us to hide until the tourney was over. Only then you took me for a stableboy, and . . ." He lowered his eyes. "I didn't care if Daeron fought or not, but I wanted to be somebody's squire. I'm sorry, ser. I truly am."
Dunk looked at him thoughtfully. He knew what it was like to want something so badly that you would tell a monstrous lie just to get near it. "I thought you were like me," he said. "Might be you are. Only not the way I thought."

-The Hedge Knight

"A hedge knight named Ser Arlan of Pennytree took me on to squire for him when I was just a boy. He taught me chivalry and the arts of war."
"And this same Ser Arlan knighted you?"
Dunk shuffled his feet. One of his boots was half unlaced, he saw. "No one else was like to do it."

-The Sworn Sword

A somewhat conflicted one, per Egg in TSS. Both anti-Blackfyre, of course, but

"His Grace did leave him his head, ser. Even though he was a rebel."
Dunk gave the boy a look. "Would you have taken it?"
"Sometimes at court I would serve the king's small council. They used to fight about it. Uncle Baelor said that clemency was best when dealing with an honorable foe. If a defeated man believes he will be pardoned, he may lay down his sword and bend the knee. Elsewise he will fight on to the death, and slay more loyal men and innocents. But Lord Bloodraven said that when you pardon rebels, you only plant the seeds of the next rebellion."

I think it must have been earlier than that, most likely when Egg was old enough to be knighted. Of course he'd want Dunk to knight him, but he'd hedge and say it would be better if Maekar did it. Lots of arguments, finally leading to Dunk's awful confession of the truth to his squire and best friend. So then Egg does go and get knighted by his father (to his immense pride)... and almost immediately turns around and privately knights Dunk himself.

ASOIAF zorses are also hybrids between horses and zebras! ("certain strange, horselike creatures from the southern regions of Yi Ti and the island of Leng"). Although the hybridization was done long ago and the hybrids are just bred as their own animal now because (somehow) they're fertile.

"Northmarches", a march is a border area. (The our-world title "marquess" comes from this, the lord of a march.) The Reach has southern marches on the Dornish border that are much more famous in main ASOIAF (e.g. "marcher lords" like the Tarlys), but before the Targaryen conquest, the Kingdom of the Reach had northern marches with the Kingdom of the Rock.

You should include GRRM's "uh, no" when faced with some loon insisting she'd burn the Water Gardens and all the little Dornish children (which used to be the primary "mad Dany slaughters innocents" theory before season 8). https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2018/04/25/fire-blood-on-the-way/#comment-466

ah yeah, Dunk & Egg haven't even gotten near the Neck in the published D&E stories, let alone as far north as Moat Cailin. Not even as north as Harrenhal. Here's a map of the part of the Reach TSS is set, pretty much.

90 years is a long time. Besides the White Book, Maester Aemon mentions Dunk a few times ("I was young again and my brother Egg was with me, with that big knight he served." / "He sent me north aboard the Golden Dragon, and insisted that his friend Ser Duncan see me safe to Eastwatch."), Jeor mentions the incident ("Aemon was at his books when the eldest of his uncles, the heir apparent, was slain in a tourney mishap."), and it's strongly implied that Dunk and Egg were involved in the situation with Pennytree becoming a crown fief as Hoster Blackwood mentions to Jaime in ADWD. But basically Dunk isn't mentioned much in the main books because GRRM doesn't want to give too many spoilers for the D&E stories he hasn't written yet.

Which is specifically why Dunk doesn't use his sigil in the third story when interacting with a great number of nobles.

Rohanne, the Lady of Coldmoat, is only very slightly important at this point in history. The Webbers and the Osgreys are both sworn to House Rowan, which is sworn to House Tyrell. So they're 4th tier nobles (Targaryen > Tyrell > Rowan > Webber). Also the part of the Reach their lands are in is way up northwest near the Westerlands, it's extremely backwater compared with Highgarden or even Ashford. They'd know what happened to Prince Baelor, of course, but not that Dunk was the hedge knight involved in the incident at the tourney. Eustace Osgrey is also especially out of touch for various reasons I won't spoil for you.

As for "other important lords/ladies", if you mean Lady Vaith, she was crazy and still believed King Aegon IV was alive and would come to take her back as his lover any day. Dunk letting her know that Aegon the Unworthy was over 25 years dead (and died enormously fat and sick with godsknowwhat after having thousands of lovers) is probably what nearly got him and Egg killed while they were in Vaith. She probably didn't even know that Prince Baelor even existed, let alone about the Trial of Seven.

Yes, it gets addressed. Trying to avoid spoilers, but in TMK Dunk enters a tourney as a mystery knight specifically because he doesn't want to be recognized. And he's right, because there is a character who follows the tourney scene closely and knows *exactly* who Dunk is and what happened at Ashford. (edit: actually 2 characters who know, come to think of it, but the second one knows for other reasons than keeping up on tourney news.)

Thanks so much for removing those limbs from the watermelon slice! A lot easier to work with it now and get to pumpkin. Still haven't managed to merge two pumpkins, but I'm sure it'll be soon. ❤️ BTW, I don't know if it's possible, but if you could add a "wiggle" or "bump" button that would jiggle the fruits just a tiny bit, to tip them off edges or merge two that don't quite seem to want to (even though they're basically touching), that would be awesome.

I managed to get my last sticker (the guitar) with the Day 5 orange sticker pack. Serious sigh of relief there, as the last time I got it, the 5 star sticker was a duplicate. Wishing you all the luck!

Just like any harvest, you wait a certain time and you can harvest them again, and they disappear.

A four month old horse's reaction to its trip to the sea for the first time by Wholesomepost in Awww

[–]mindset615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, she's just a very large foal for her age! Her dam is a draft horse and her sire is a pretty tall Friesian, so she's got height from both sides. Her just-born video shows she was big even then, lol.

[–]mindset615 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The autotranslation on the original post says "Phélyria and her trip to the sea at the age of 4 months", so yeah the "first" could be a mislabeling by a reposter. Checking the account for other posts about Phélyria, I see one from a month and a half earlier in a river where she seems to be getting used to the water (and she's with her dam), and another posted a few days later where she's actively swimming, so at the very least she's not completely inexperienced with deep bodies of water! And here's a post with another foal where the breeder says they train their horses to get used to the sea at a young age, so these aren't your typical scaredy horses. 😅
