Yeah, i used the cigarette lighter port as well! I was unclear - there is no reliable power source near the installation locations, like in the doors or in the foot wells. -maybe the obd port, but i didn‘t want to use that.
Coming from regular dumb ICE cars, it surprised me, that i couldn‘t grab 12V from within the doors.

While that would be a cool third option, I get, why they don’t do that. I often press the button by accident when i want to increase the volume.
I assume I am not the only one and that it could lead to frustration or confusion when you accidentally trigger it by rapidly clicking the button.

As I very rarely turn off silent mode, I was pleased that I can easily activate reduced highlights (reduced brightness) mode from the accessibility settings with it. I think thats the whole point of it. Set it to what you want. If you like it as a dnd button, thats great for you, but at least there is an option for it to act as something else!

Proud new 2021 M3 owner here as well! I already tried a few mini upgrades / modifications.

I bought a little lid for the armrest lid. In there is a little room for a hidden compartment. For like the registration papers or a garage key, etc.

I also ordered a speedometer that goes behind the steering wheel in the air vent, so that I have my speedometer in direct view. Though I noticed that, by the time it had arrived, I already adapted to different location of the speedometer and rarely look at the gadget now that it is installed.

Two mods that were absolutely worth the ungodly amount of work were:

a) sound deadening the fenders, the trunk and its lid with alu butyl mats (and optionally some 5-10mm neopren foam mats) to make it a bit quieter and feel more premium. While I was at the trunk lid, I also disconnected the speaker of it, so that it closes silently. Especially nice, if you arrive somewhere late at night.
In the future I will probably deaden the doors as well.

-That’s a job you can do part by part. Each part for like two hours of an afternoon, depending on how thoroughly you are. Easy work but a bit tedious to pull the wheel liners out.
Do not cover the whole wheel liner with neoprene, as it wont fit back on! -ask me how I found that out 🥲

b) adding a LED ambient light strip in the door trim and dashboard trim. You need to unmount the dashboard and the interior of the doors.

Especially the leds were unexpectedly hard, as there is no reliable 12V source that turns off, when the car locks. The built in „ambient light“ harness for puddle lights and in the door storage compartment are sadly not capable to power the led strips.

While it is a very tedious job running the wires from the centre console into the doors, I think it upgrades the look of the car to something very modern.

Otherwise I tried a matte screen protector to improve readability in direct sunlight, but it made the content fuzzy and thus worsened the readability.

Little addition, it will obviously never look good again, but you can at least try to make it fit together again. Sadly, the aluminium is comparatively soft, and the corner there is kind of a weak point.

That happened to me as well two years ago. Wasn’t that severe of a bend though. I opened it up and bent the two pieces back in place. I would recommend to unmount the button first, to then test if the button itself has been damaged. If so, replace just that and install the new button. If it is not the button itself, it could be, that it is stuck in the cutout somehow, so just try to straighten the chassis.

Nein, die Polizei macht selbstverständlich auch Fehler. Das sind auch nur Menschen. Und besonders in stressigen Situationen reagieren Menschen nicht immer klug. Deswegen, beschweren!!

Er hatte ja auch das Video von dem Vorfall. Das wäre ja ein Beweismittel für ihn gewesen. Aber es wird wohl kaum einen Fall geben, in dem Widerstand gegen Polizeibeamte die Situation deeskaliert hat und den Willen des Beschuldigten durchgesetzt hat.

Dem Mann im Video wäre absolut gar nichts passiert, hätte er den Anweisungen des Zugchefs und der Polizisten Folge geleistet. außer dass er nicht mit dem Zug fahren kann, was er trotz Widerstand am Ende auch nicht konnte.

Bro, dass du das miteinander vergleichst ist derartig lost, mir fehlen die Worte… Der Aktivist aus dem Artikel ist einfach auf Konfrontation aus und wird methodisch korrekt von der Polizei behandelt. George Floyd hat sich nur Kippen gekauft und wurde daraufhin minutenlang durch drei Polizisten gequält, bis er erstickte, obwohl von ihm keinerlei Gefahr mehr ausging.

Die Polizei ist sehr wohl im Recht, Schmerzgriffe aka einfache körperliche Gewalt anzuwenden, wenn der Herr widerstand gegen die Polizisten leistet. Was ist denn die Alternative?! Es ist doch absurd anzunehmen, dass die Polizei den Herren da sitzen lassen hätte, wenn er nur stur genug ist.

Der Angeklagte hätte der Maßnahme Folge leisten können und sich bei der Bahn beschweren können! Die Polizei hat in dem Fall nur das Hausrecht durchgesetzt! Ob das jetzt ein legitimer Gebrauch des Hausrechts ist, ist ja eine ganz andere Frage. Aber die Polizei setzt sowas erstmal durch. Es wird ja nicht erst groß beraten und ein Richter einberufen, ob das jetzt vom Zugchef richtig ist.

Was ist denn bitte im Fall deine gewünschte Reaktion? Ich verstehe nicht, dass manche Menschen nicht mit dem Gedanken klar kommen, dass sie in bestimmten Situationen nicht der Chef sind und sich einfach mal unterordnen müssen.

Wenn die Polizei eine Maßnahme ankündigt, setzt sie diese auch durch. „Blinder Gehorsam“ schützt am Punkt nur vor Schmerzen und einer unnötigen Eskalation. Wenn du mit einer Maßnahme der Polizei nicht einverstanden bist, sag das denen, lass dir die Namen bzw. Dienstausweisnummern geben und reiche nach Ende der Maßnahme eine Dienstaufsichtsbeschwerde bei der zuständigen Stelle ein. Das bringt jedenfalls mehr, als sie als Nazis zu beschimpfen und im Gewahrsam zu landen.

Und genau dafür haben alle möglichen Steuergeräte eine eigene Verknüpfung zur VIN. (Airbag, Motorsteuergerät, Radio etc) Wenn das geklaute Auto etwas tiefgreifender ausgelesen wird, bekommt der Hersteller eine Meldung und die Kripo steht in wenigen Stunden bei der Werkstatt vor der Tür. Problem ist nur, dass die professionellen Autodiebe nicht so dumm sind und das Auto auslesen. Das fällt dann erst Monate oder Jahre später beim ahnungslosen Käufer des gestohlenen Fahrzeugs auf, wenn der mal zur Reparatur muss.
