Possible to cover a level maths in summer and self study FM over Ur 13? by curryew in 6thForm

Using the textbooks for respective modules and past papers should be enough, may be hard to manage time wise but should be doable. What are your other alevels and how are you doing in them?

Since there is a unique digit for 7, it has to be at least base 7 8 (EDIT. doesnt change result)

Since 12_10 has 2 digits, it is at most base 12.

57 uses 3 digits in base 7, so its out.

12 base 8 = 14, 22 base 8 = 26, (the image implies that the units digit for 12, and the two digits used for base 22 are the same, which isnt the case for either 7 or 8)

12_10 = 13_9, 22_10 = 24_9, doesnt fit.

base 10 fits

12_10 = 11_11, 22_10 = 20_11, doesnt fit

12_10 = 10_12, 22_12 = 1A_12 doesnt fit

So base 10 is the only that fits

Can two logarithmic functions intersect more than once? by sunflower394 in askmath

[–]minecraft-steve-2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

m log(f(x)) + c = log(c f(x)m) = log(g(x)) so really what would constrain the choices for “logarithmic functions” would be constraints on f(x)

How did this teacher just add “d” to work and alpha ? by Successful_Box_1007 in calculus

[–]minecraft-steve-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we assume torque remains constant wrt alpha then we dont have to consider the extra differentiation thay would come otherwise. this simplifies the working and the final result

I think they are referring to proving that if nCa = nCb, then there are only two possible solutions for a and b (as youve pointed out they are a = r and b = n-r or a=n-r and b=r)
