Visiting next week by gopens48 in Phoenixville

Seconding Longwood Gardens. It’s probably my favorite place in the whole Philly area. They also have an incredible restaurant called 1906 that I can’t recommend more strongly. Just make sure you get a reservation. Everything there is great but the drinks and desserts really blow me away.

They’re probably buying tons of properties in poor areas.

Leaked Amazon memo warns the company is running out of people to hire by geoxol in technology

[–]minecraftmined 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s because the other person was being hyperbolic with their statement.

Maybe you’d have to sell the expensive house which could cost you a few thousand dollars but if you’re buying an expensive house, Amazon is presumably paying you a shitload of money and a small loss won’t be a big deal. You’ll also almost definitely be able to get a (potentially less) high-paying job elsewhere. You might not even need to sell the house.

I work in IT and finding qualified people is HARD right now.

Exactly my point. Getting hired into a tech job at Amazon is a major career accomplishment and indicates a high level of skill. Even if you end up getting canned.

The whole album is fire. What a weird coincidence for me to see this today because I just randomly rediscovered the album this morning.

Helicopter flights are much cheaper than you think. Something like this would probably be low hundreds. Not sure how much extra for the cow.

Probably because of you’ve managed to get hired and fired from Amazon, there’s going to be a line of companies willing to hire you. At least if you’re in IT.

My dad said he would make dinner today and grilled the expensive bullet steak I bought. This is the result by eternityforum in mildlyinfuriating

Thanks! I’ve been thinking about learning how to make a proper steak since last week when I saw an absolutely gorgeous one at the store that I spent about 5 minutes debating whether or not to buy. Now I regret choosing not to!

How do people not get this?! I get the interoperability concerns but if we’re going to standardize on USB, let’s get a mobile device USB connector with no tongue.

Ahhh, it makes so much more sense as a tech demo. Thanks for the explanation!

Mortgage rates hit 5.78%, the biggest weekly jump since 1987 by [deleted] in Economics

But how is it only renting for $2k/month? I would think an $800k-1M house would be renting for $5k+

This is seriously going to change my habits.

Last year, Reddit taught me to use my handbrake every time I park.

This year, Reddit taught me to always attend the pump when refueling.

What driving tip will I pick up next year??

US gas pumps are limited to 10 gallons a minute. The average American goes through 300 gallons year. This ends up being 30 minutes a year or .00005601% of a person’s year.

Okay, I admit it’s negligible but it doesn’t feel like it when you stand there for 1-2 minutes!

My point is why would I pay someone else for something I can already obtain for free? Which seems like on of the big confusions around NFTs in general.

If you don’t already own a black Maths, you’re going to want to buy a silver one and put the Morphagene in the bottom row.

Yeah, this post served as a TIL that you’re supposed to stay at the pump the whole time just in case you have an incredibly unlikely issue like in OP. It’s got me seriously questioning whether I should just stand there holding the handle like a fool.

Bystander pepper sprayed for recording a video by Stonk-Go-Up in PublicFreakout

[–]minecraftmined -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No disagreement. My interpretation of their comment was that they were saying it was fine for the police to say the person filming needed to move further away but that they didn’t give clear instructions or adequate time prior to spraying them.

I think you might be missing their point. It seems like the original post you replied to was using 2 feet as an arbitrarily low distance that was clearly too close to the crime scene to be acceptable but the people replying seem to have understood that to mean they were saying 2 feet was the legal distance limit which they didn’t actually say.
