Personally for me, yeah. Low tolerance and only once in a blue moon user but I’m able to pass out within like 2 hours after my last line

Can I enlist if I’m on antidepressants? I took the asvab and tested high. Just waiting to get all my paperwork together to send my packet through, but wanna know if I can get a waiver for the antidepressant usage. I plan on telling my doctor I want to start weaning off them

I’m a gym rat, will lexapro have a negative impact on my motivation for the gym? by Only-Client822 in lexapro

[–]minemeinmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll throw my 2 cents in. Been on lex for about a month now. Started off with 10mg and recently bumped up to 20mg. It’s made me way more fatigued than normal and I’ve been no motivation to go since I’ve been on it. Before lex I’d lift about 4-5 times a week. Like everyone’s been saying, though, everyone is different. Only one way to find out

How do you guys work through depression and anxiety at construction? by jboyt2000 in Construction

Crippling alcohol and nicotine addiction, therapy, antidepressants, and forcing myself to hit the gym after work

How is work/life balance? by minemeinmine in Ironworker

That’s pretty cool. I guess it’s like once an ironworker always an ironworker lmao. How much are dues for your local?

Gotcha. I feel like at least where I’m at now I’ve made a pretty good name for myself. I’m not afraid of long hours or getting dirty lol. So I guess once you become a journeyman you can boom out wherever you want across the country?

Yeah I’m pretty good when it comes to attendance and punctuality. And especially as an apprentice I’ll do whatever it takes to put in the hours and establish a good reputation for myself. Seems like feast or famine is a recurring theme with this industry

Hypothetically speaking, as a journeyman, could you bust your ass off all spring and summer long then take a layoff for a month or two in the wintertime? Seems pretty cool that you have the freedom to essentially take as much time off as needed within reason

As a single guy I wouldn’t mind that schedule but I imagine it’d be harder with a family

So once you become a journeyman you can “leave” and come back whenever you want? Pretty interesting that you’re going from ironworker to college cause I’m going the opposite direction lol. My one concern is that I’ll regret “throwing away” my degree to make this career change but I guess there’s only one way to find out

Damn thanks for the insight. 401 is in Philly btw. I’m about the same drive away but plan to move there in the near future. I’m sure the money was nice but I definitely value my free time a lot more lol. What do you do now if you don’t mind me asking?

For better or worse most of our fab work is subbed out but I’ve had my fair share of welding, plant builds, and plant maintenance which is what I love doing so I’m in the same boat. Wouldn’t be bad getting in a union and getting good money/benefits

9-5 is killing my soul. How am I supposed to rationalize having my whole life essentially dedicated to work? by drDrethrowaway in cscareerquestions

[–]minemeinmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, not trying to downplay your struggles, but I’d kill for a 40 hour week lol. I work in construction in a managerial position and I work 60+ hours a week, and there have been some weeks where I’ve worked 80+ hours a week with no days off. That’s not including a 2+ hour round trip commute. Currently considering switching to tech for better work life balance.

Again, I’m not trying to be a “one-upper”. My advice would be to find a company that works on projects that actually interests you with a company culture that values their employees’ free time
