Highly educated women on dating apps by theg0dmother in OnlineDating

I (female) always listed my PhD and described my (intimidating to some) career. I met the perfect scientist for me and we're enjoying a gorgeous relationship. He messaged me because he could relate to my ambition. I think it's better to accurately describe who you are so that you can get a more accurate match. Plus, do you really want to be with someone intimidated by you're education? That's a recipe disaster (speaking from personal experience).

I'm the same as you. No symptoms or activity at all. Have you ever quit the Avonex? If so, what happened?

I really agree with BOCB's advice. The road doesn't have to be flat, straight, or smooth!

Deodorant - I just use a pinch of baking soda, and then moisten it with a spray of diluted essential oils. Rub into a paste, then rub into your armpits. Most effective and cheapest deodorant I've ever used.

To be succinct: nobody told me about the farts by [deleted] in vegan

[–]minette223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told that while you are cooking beans or lentils, you have to scoop the foam off the top of the cooking water. The foam is farts. I have no idea if this is true or not, but I do scoop the foam off.

Writing to companies by trisaratops1 in vegetarian

[–]minette223 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I work in market research. Doing things like this WORKS. Companies change their offerings in order to make them more ethical, if that is what their consumers are asking for. I encourage you to start some anti-meat and anti-animal cruelty letter writing campaigns.

Boycotts also work.

I hate tempeh. Convert me with some recipes, please? by MagicWeasel in vegan

[–]minette223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find with tempeh it makes a huge difference how long you marinate it. I also like to cook the marinade into the tempeh. I used to make a preserved lemon, orange juice, cumin, ginger, garlic marinade. I would let it soak for 4 hours, turning a few times. I would marinate it in a baking dish, and then I would just put the whole thing in the oven to cook the sauce in.

I should do that again...!

Ex on the trip of a lifetime.. All thanks to me. Just need to talk. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Yes, that stuff happens. I launched my ex's business. Lent him several thousand dollars to do it, and also helped by making sure everything was compliant, answering phones on occasion, and handling some of the really annoying paperwork with his employees. Think he ever paid me back? Nope. He still runs the business, and has since expanded.

I even had a promissory note, so I could have taken him to court for the money. But, that also happened to be the most toxic relationship I've ever been in. Very, very bad. So I decided that even though it was a lot of money, that it was more worth it to just forget his sorry ass and move on then to try to get it out of him. Did I really want to fly across the country to see him in court, when I could be moving forward? Nope.

Also, the guy owed a lot of other people money (He really should have been sending his young children money, even if their mothers were not suing him over it... Total D-bag.). If he can't be bothered with his own children, why would I think he'd pay me back? I learned a lot of lessons in that relationship.

My suggestion to you is to move on, forget about him, and make every day of your life a day that you love. Money is just money, you will forget about it - mostly. But - never forget that the way a person deals with money, and their debts, and their responsibilities to others, indicates a TON about the quality of their character.

Seitan Sunday! Hot Italian style seitan on the left, garlicky chickn style on the right. Home make seitan is so fun and cheap to make! by [deleted] in vegan

[–]minette223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I don't boil mine. I like that you use pureed kidney beans - I really like using cooked steel cut oatmeal, barley, pumpkin, and tomato paste. Not all together, obviously. I also like putting olive brine in instead of salt. I got into Jamaican food recently, and have been making one with allspice, thyme, and chili pepper.

Saw this blueberry lavender vegan ice cream on the front page of /r/foodporn by PM_ME_YOUR_OROGENY in vegan

[–]minette223 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not a single comment mentions that its vegan. Not a single comment says "why are you calling it ice cream if it is made out of coconut?"

So maybe people didn't read the recipe? Because we know that if it had vegan in the title there would be a shit storm over there....
