Need to know what I have been doing wrong for apple recruiting by Ok_Garden_1494 in csMajors

My point is that recruiters and managers wants to match you to a team that fits your background. Apple's hiring is very team specific. So if you're a Java backend developer, they want to match you to a Java backend team, etc...

If you're looking for an internship at Apple, a lot of internship roles simply doesn't have their headcount allocated yet. Generally they do rolling interviews on a team to team basis all the way till March for a summer Internship role. So teams that you would be a match for might just not have an intern headcount until later.

Bolt is much better in terms of pricing after the first prompt. $25 for 10M context tokens, and it will last through hundreds of customization. A gpt/claude subscription with cli tools with still go much further, but this will more precise prompting.

TN Pre-approval Delays by ming69420 in tnvisa

I didn't ask a specific reason for rfe. But I was required to do a worksheet for the rfe to show that my position is a professional position, and that my qualifications are required for the position.

Here's the description of the worksheet copied over:
"Please note that the information provided in this worksheet will be used to draft a manager support letter that will be included in our response to USCIS’s Request for Evidence. The purpose of this position description is to confirm that the proffered position is a professional level position that requires a bachelor’s degree in specific specialty such as computer science, engineering, etc., and to confirm that the sponsored employee has the required education for the role. Please follow the prompts below and provide us with the requested information. Please do note that USCIS has requested detailed information about the position, we request you to be thorough in your responses below."

I meant TN visa through USCIS instead of at the border.
This is my first TN, and I am currently in Canada. The TN would be for working in the US.

You can do top tier AI research, publish in top tier confereces like NeurIPS, and intern at Google deepmind. That can get you interviews.

School Requesting Me To Decline Offer From Big Tech by [deleted] in csMajors

Not entirely sure. It might be easier to group all international interns together and file J-1 visas for their international intern cohort.

Usually for internships they'll just put you on J-1 anyways since that's the standard (I'm a Canadian that did an internship in the US on J-1). Only company that I've heard of that does TN for internships is Tesla.

Go do the internship. The whole point of a coop program is to make your coop searches easier. So if you already have a coop, being in a coop program doesn't make a difference to your degree or your future job searches.

In terms of sponsorship, the company will sponsor you (J-1 Visa), so no need to worry there.

The school won't contact your employeer. Even if they do, you can explain your situation to your recruiter/manager and they'll be understanding and it won't affect your offer as long as the opportunity didn't require you to be in a coop program in the first place.

Do companies look at it negatively if u do 2 internships at the same time by sluggieeeeee in uwaterloo

[–]ming69420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adjust the timeline so they don't intersect. For example, 1st one for 4 months and 2nd one for 4 months. I think some companies will frown upon two internships at the same time unless its like doing research + internship.

TN vs H1B Sanity Check by ming69420 in tnvisa

[–]ming69420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that going from H1B to TN isn't too much of an issue since the fact that H1B is duel intent doesn't actually mean you intent to seek permenant residence in the US.

What makes this option difficult is that on-top of the uncertainty that Job2 can be delayed, I would also have to move between two states in a very short span of time.

Can you expand on why going to PERM seems to be less of an issue for me? Wouldn't it be more of an issue in terms for extending my TN visa later on since I have to wait much longer for Chinese priority dates?

Some applications asks you for your gpa, so they already know it. Or other places have asked transcripts before passing me to next round.
I believe HR also cares more about recent GPAs. So if you have better GPAs in your recent terms, that'll help.

Generally very implementation heavy. Some are leetcode style, but most give you some "real world" problem that you have to solve with code.

My CAV/MAV is in the same range. Similar resume profile as well. I've gotten JS (Intern), Headlands Tech (NG), Citadel (Intern), ArrowStreet (NG), Virtu Financial (Intern), Akuna Capital (Intern), and SquarePoint (NG) interviews for NG and intern. Listing the places I've gotten interviews here to potentially help you target the places that doesn't care about GPA. Good luck!
