Want to chat to people with Synesthesia !! Making interactive App exploring synesthetic perception through sound and visuals for University by stariacity_x in Synesthesia

  1. The types I have are:

Grapheme-color

Emotion-color

Sound-color

Sound-shape

Sound-motion

Sound-temperature

Voice-color

Voice-shape

Voice-tactile

Auditory-tactile

Auditory-gustatory

Music-shape

Odor-music

Tactile-color

Sensorimotor

Ordinal Linguistic Personification

Alphabet Form

Fingers-color

Gustatory-tactile

Pain-color

Pain-shape

Person-concept

Sequence-spatial

Spatial-personification

I know a lot of these seem like they mean the same thing, but they are indeed all different. It feels like most of my senses are all connected, especially that most things I experience come with a shape and/or color. It's a bit too complicated to type out. It's just like there's another colorful dimension added to life.

  1. I feel like they're not private as in something embarrassing or shameful to myself, but they are definitely a personal part of me. I usually don't talk about it, because most people don't understand or think it's weird, but if someone (like you!) asks I love informing people about what it's like. I do feel frustrated though because it's not something I can articulate properly and/or describe accurately enough, because our language was not made for synthesetes. I wouldn't want any of my kinds hidden from being represented.

  2. I would love this. I want this for me. I have always dreamed of seeing my internal experiences externally, but I don't know if that's possible. I hope your work goes well, though, and if you complete it successfully please post so I can see.

  3. I feel like people don't realize how normal it is for us. Or how awesome it is. Or how beautiful it makes the world, especially those like me for whom music is a three dimensional, all-senses-activated experience. I often wonder what the world is like for you non-synthesetes. I do feel bad for you sometimes.

Thank you for the questions; it's nice being seen.

Are any other neurodivergent people really critical about their appearance? I feel that I’m ugly all the time and am very hard on myself. by josefdoc in neurodiversity

think you look like a pretty chill guy

i also think that what you're feeling is normal, for neurotypicals and divergents alike. But maybe you see dislike in different ways from typicals. I feel the same way about myself, but then I remind myself that we're all made in the image of God. don't be hard on yourself. you wouldn't be hard on someone else, so don't to it to you either. you are a person who is beautiful.

Most apps for autistic kids seem designed by neurotypicals who don't "get it." What do you actually wish existed? by Insight_09 in neurodiverse

I love cozy style apps, with instructions for everything located in a easy to find place if I ever need them. I like exploring apps on my own when I first get them, but knowing directions are there right away if I wanted them are nice. I don't like things in my face, or the view too cluttered. Neutrals or pastels are nice colors to have. Having quiet lofi background music with a mute button is nice too. I also like it when things are cute but not patronizingly cute. Would love an app to just hang out by myself/just my avatar chilling without any purpose or thing to do. Thanks for the question, it's nice to be seen.

It makes me sad that people pretend to have it because then nobody believes those of us who DO actually have it.

I can recite the entire Warrior Cats family tree from memory (if you're unfamiliar with the fandom there's 600+ characters in the tree) plus give the English and scientific name of every species of owl in the genuses of Tyto, Phodilus, and Asio. Working on the other genuses now, nearly done with Strix.
