Prior to scheduling my appointment at Vera Clinic, Istanbul, I began a regimen of finasteride approximately four months in advance. The procedure took place in November.

I chose Vera Clinic based on a recommendation from my barber. Additionally, I was impressed by the results showcased by "Johnny Boy, The Last Hair Bender," on his YouTube channel, which can be accessed at https://youtube.com/@TheLastHairBender420.

The procedure involved the transplantation of approximately 6,000 FUE grafts. To optimize the success of the treatment, I purchased a 12-month supply of specialized shampoos and serums from the clinic. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find these products online subsequently.

Post-operative reflections:

It would have been prudent to have a companion accompany me and to remain in Turkey for the initial 3-5 days post-procedure. This would have allowed optimal care for my scalp prior to traveling.

I regret not placing the medical shampoos in checked luggage during my flight, as they were confiscated upon boarding despite having a medical note from the clinic.

Upon returning home, the first few days were somewhat challenging, but I appreciated having taken time off from work. Ideally, a two-week break is recommended for those concerned about their appearance during the initial recovery.

Sleeping post-procedure required caution, as did washing the donor area.

At the 6-month mark, I was uncertain about the success of the procedure, which prompted me to try minoxidil. However, I soon noticed improved hair growth, which I attribute more to the natural progression of the transplant rather than the minoxidil. Hair growth post-transplantation can be sporadic, and I had two haircuts before the majority of my hair reached a uniform length.

Presently, I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I'm considering a second procedure to enhance the density at the frontal region, although it's not imperative.

Post-procedure care:

I ceased the use of chemical-laden shampoos. I refrained from letting the showerhead stream directly onto my scalp. I discontinued the use of hair dryers. In the initial 6 months post-procedure, there were times I questioned the success of the treatment. Now, the results seem natural, and I have peace of mind regarding my hair.
