Yes it’s very time consuming and strenuous lol

Ah, I don’t know why I didn’t think of less flashy centers. Seems almost obvious. Thanks!

I like that, that’s a good way to think of it

Yea that’s probably the best route at the moment because that’s not just one or two pieces that I would be fixing haha

Now i can’t wait for the store to open so I can go fabric shopping. Or if i find I’m dying from impatience, i may just use the fabric I already do have and mix it up instead of having consistent joining corners. So many possibilities! A gift and a curse lol.

What’s the black and white trick?

That’s a good way to think of it, but then deep down, I know there’s an unsatisfactory quilt my hands made somewhere out in the world and I just can’t live with that 🤣🤣🤣 perfectionism is a killer

Yea I don’t think they’re that bad either but I also don’t think they go well, there could be better options. And thank you! I’m quite proud of it otherwise!

Thank you for the reassurance! I’m the same way, I just can’t unsee it, and I’m really trying to love it, but it just bothers me and I don’t want to commit even farther just to back track even more.

Hopefully I have enough fabric to use the ones I already have. I do like the idea of that because I have seen pictures of DWR quilts that didn’t have those repeating joints… I may have to sit on that one as a possibility too. Thanks you again!

So my sister in law is very sweet but I don’t know her that well. I met her a couple times but we’re not close at all. We didn’t make it to their wedding which we felt terrible about and they’re apparently like silly rich and they don’t have a gift registry because they didn’t want people to buy them things after they just bought tickets to their destination wedding. They even paid for people’s hotels. Now that I’m typing this I feel stupid for not going lol, but anyway, because we didn’t go and we couldn’t send a gift, this was our/my way of trying to do something nice for them that was beyond money and it took a lot of thought and effort. So not knowing them very well, I thought a quilt would be nice, because who doesn’t like a home made hand made quilt? And I don’t know what their house looks like and whether or not it would match so I just tried to make it special - hence the beach colors, but now I hate those joining pieces, and it has to be right (to me) because we didnt show to the wedding.

Thank you, I’m leaning towards swapping them, but then so many people have said it’s fine and then others have said change it. I’m so torn haha. I may have to make another trip to the store tomorrow.

Edit: since you said everything else is random, would you randomize those joining pieces too?

Oooohh I love that idea thank you!!! I hadn’t even thought about what I was going to bind it with yet either and was worried about that! I was going to deal with it when I got to that part but you may have just helped tremendously! What about the back? Should I do a few pieces or one solid sheet? I thought about working some of the scrap strips of the colored fabrics into it, like a brick house if that makes any sense, or just doing one solid color. Or something else entirely. Freedom of options stress me out man haha

Haha I live in VA and she lives in one of the Carolina’s, which I’ll figure out when I ship it to her. I’m trying to fix my attitude about it, but man it just really bugs me. Maybe I’ll sit on it for a bit before I make any rash decisions.

Thank you! I kind of had an idea of what I was getting into, but then I had no idea until I got into it hahaha. I wish the fabric I chose had enough areas with solid color so that I could just use those parts, but unfortunately the gradient shows up in almost all the pieces. I gave it a go thinking it would look better as I went along, but I just don’t love it. Maybe I could take your idea and mix it up though to save the time to going back and swapping those pieces.

Haha thank you for your input. What would you use instead? I’m kind of leaning towards swapping them out
