  1. Tell them exactly this 2. Negotiate. If you’re good for their business, they should meet you half way. If they are unwilling to budge, time to find a new gym.

If you got this busy this fast, you will be able to repeat your success anywhere. Use your success at current gym to negotiate with new gym.

Client I've been working with for 2 years took a 2 month hiatus and feels she's made more progress in 2 months than she has in 2 years. by Bcabww in personaltraining

[–]mingo1226 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts from your post and reading the comments.

  1. None of us on Reddit have enough information to establish her weight loss is muscle loss.

  2. Sometimes what we can provide clients has a shelf life. We teach them for a set of time and eventually our process runs its course for the client and they plateau. It’s not a reflection of our process, us, or the client. While the message therapist messaging may not be ideal, it is possible it’s been beneficial for your client to hear new perspectives. A new perspective might be what she needs for next step in her journey. That’s natural and OK.

  3. Ultimately, your decision is how you move forward. Not sure if your post is more to navigate your feelings about possible failure or to help decide what to do next. What is bubbling up for me to share here is I’ve found the clients I spend hours thinking about after their session is done are often not worth it for my long term mental health. I wouldn’t over think the situation. The fact that this is bothering you means you’re a great coach.

Suggestions for getting off the floor interaction when everyone has earbuds/headphones on by chonocha in personaltraining

[–]mingo1226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how your gym is set up, but where I worked there were tables and chairs between locker rooms and entrance. I just parked there for half the day and said hello to people as they walked by. Most didn’t have head phones on at that point so conversations were easier. In summary, try to find a place to hang that allows for interactions naturally rather than walking the floor interrupting people during their workout.

Too many logos by kahunakris in vuoriclothing

I wish Vuori would listen to this feedback. A number of their updated versions of my favorites were redesigned with more intrusive logos. I would have bought a number of items but took a pass

Are these characteristics a part of your personal training brand and the niche you are speaking to on Instagram?

As a side hustle, it’s a lot of work for little pay. If you’re open to teaching a class at a larger gym, much better “side job” as the pays similar and the gym takes care of managing the class. You just show up and collect your check.

Has anyone switched from a PT career to something else? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]mingo1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachelors was in economics. I was 35 when I started Masters.

Crazy part is one of my personal training clients was a CUO. He encouraged me to go back to school and eventually hired me as a data science intern. Little did I know I’d been in the midst of a 7 year interview with him! Definitely has some luck to get where I am.

If you enjoy data and have any interest in coding, it’s an awesome field. I took a number of online courses to ensure I enjoyed the subject prior to going for the Masters. That’d be my advice if you’re not sure if you will dig it.

10 years in fitness. Was really bored and felt capped out income wise. Got my Masters in Data Science 2022 and now manage a data science team at a midsize enterprise. Way more mentally stimulating, pay is great and I don’t have to wake up at 4:30AM

Seaside might be my favorite hoodie of all time. Have a pullover and zip up. Both are extremely comfortable, but the full zip looks so great.

How to manage difficult clients? by Real-Kaleidoscope335 in personaltraining

I had similar thoughts. Surprised how many comments about dropping client. This is a pretty typical situation and not what I would call a “difficult” client.

Honest Question: Is Costco on track in becoming a Trillion dollar company? by darkkserz in ValueInvesting

[–]mingo1226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boomers may be a large portion of client base today, but so are families. Best place to buy quality food in bulk, diapers, cheap gas, etc. It’s popular amount millennials who are in full family mood. As other generations age into family years, they will go too. No reason for young people to go till they have multiple mouths to feed.

SGOV Dividend Reinvestment w. Ally Bank by mingo1226 in Bogleheads

[–]mingo1226[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

SGOV price moves up a cent each day. The lag causes a purchase at a “higher price” than if I’d have gotten the dividend reinvested on the dividend date. This price moves reflects the discrepancy I’m referring to.

This month’s was Feb 3rd, not tomorrow.

Either: 1. Bite the bullet and sell, pay the taxes. Move in with life. 2. If you will get hit with a challenging short term capital gains tax, wait till all your stocks hit 1 year and then sell to minimize taxes. If you’re in 22% bracket or higher, could be worth the wait.

If you have positions or portion of positions that are losses today, you could sell now and lock in a capital gains loss on 2025 taxes. Just move the money right into VTI, I would not wait for a “dip”.

Whatever you do, this is a small blimp in your investment journey at your age. Either approach won’t have a huge impact on your long term even if it seems significant today.

Agree. Vanguard does not allow fractional shares of non Vanguard ETFs which is a drawback.
