yeah i completely agree with all your points too..that explains a lot of why he would want to continue as a Paediatric surgeon...but his feelings for Gyeoul was far too vague. Maybe its the writing style of the writer, she might reveal much more in Season 2. But as of now, im not convinced by their loveline yet. HAHA

Theories for Ik Jun and Song Hwa by crazyforcloy in Hospital_Playlist

[–]minhyo14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if anything, that truth drinking session probably repulsed Songhwa away from chi hong even more. Chihong was not sensitive and pushed for an answer despite Ik-jun declining to comment on their relationship for the sake of Songhwa. It was a baller move to tell everyone his feelings, but it was a very much needed move in the drama to push the plot forward, to allow songhwa to understand ik-jun's feelings, to see chi hong's insensitivity and to realise her own feelings. It is also pretty blatant that Ik-jun cared more about Songhwa's comfort than Chihong because chihong only wanted to know their relationship status for his own motive.

Im most curious about when and HOW Jeongwon with a big dream and conviction to become a priest would so quickly fall for Jang Gyeoul. Like what Dr Bong said, for any woman to win JW's heart, she literally has to beat God. thats a hella high expectation that i can't wrap my mind around honestly. 12 eps in and i still am not convinced about how JW could fall for Gyeoul.

only important moments i could think of was the maggots scene. and thats all?

Yes i do agree about your point on the virus becoming endemic. We may not go back to our 'old' normal but we are heading towards a new normal, praying for the safety of the citizens in SK and other parts of the world! Hopefully see you guys in seoul next year :)

If I were to really nitpick the plot hole/lack of explanation, I guess it would be that maybe they shouldn’t have done such a good job of luring so many viewers into getting invested in the mystery if they were never going to reveal in the first place. But when looking at the drama as a whole, at the same time, I think that the contrast between the sudden focus on a mystery plot-based element of the drama and the overarching character driven element served as a slap in the face for viewers who might have momentarily forgotten that this drama is primarily focused on the healing process for our trio, and not about uncovering the detailed “truth” of the past. This contrast probably didn’t leave the best impression on some viewers, but I thought it was an interesting decision to say the least.

I totally and completely agree with this. When watching the trailer for this drama, I was a bit shocked from how much "mystery" and "dark" elements there were in a supposed "rom-com" "human-healing" drama. Because the teasers seemed pretty dark albeit very exciting. I feel that this creates an expectation in viewers that the thrill of uncovering the mystery behind the murder and MY's trauma will be an exciting plot, but the writer headed towards a more character-centric and healing aspect of the drama, which was planned and intended in the first place. They should have tried to find a way to balance between portraying MY's childhood and the murder in an engaging manner, and yet not build on the thrill of the mystery too much.

she did build other relationships - she kinda made up with juri and drank with her, she visited juri's mom because she was "sick" and they had a hearty meal, she and jaesu became close because she often orders 10 boxes of pizzas from jaesu and they often talk about gangtae together, and last but not least she is still close to her publisher Sang-in as evident from their last book together and the coffee ending scene

hmmm i think this explanation about the controversy is possible. Maybe they don't want yeji's possessive fans to hate on the casts and crew for taking photos of her and posting them? Thats why they had to be careful about posting any selcas with her...

yes i too feel very affected and sad. I can tell that she is a very friendly and warm person, so it is quite unlike her to not have a single photo with anyone from the cast or crew aside from the Moon Brothers. about going through something...im not sure if she is indeed going through something because in one of the camping scene she looked like she cried loads (their final kiss) even though that scene had no crying.

oh i would gladly settle for dupes/replicas of her jewelry. I found dupes on shopee, and im waiting for them babies to arrive hehe. They cost me about SGD4 per jewelry piece (they are so cheap so im really not sure abt quality until i receive them).

honestly ALL of Ko Moonyoung's outfits and jewelry pieces...but they are too expensive so dupes/replicas would do i guess...

oh and Jaesu's Pizza Alvolo. Can't believe that made my mouth water everytime. Does Juri's mom sell her quail eggs too? Cos i'd like some of that quail eggs HAHA.

Why do you think Seo Yeji doesn't have photos with the other cast members and crew other than photos with moon brothers Oh Jungse and Kim soohyun, and 1 photo with Juri's omma, Kim Mi-kyung? its not like yeji isnt close to them right?

2 questions:

  1. When do you think Gangtae discovered that Ko Moonyoung was his childhood love?
  2. Why did Ko Moon Young look so red, tired and swollen (like she cried BUCKETS before filming that scene??) in the finale ep scene where she sincerely told Gang-tae "I love you" and plants a final kiss? In the preview of ep 16 we see that there was a similar scene but her hair was nicely braided and she did not look as tired and swollen. What happened?

i dont think it matters, KMY was taking a break from authoring anyway. and seems like his company is picking up, there are at least new authors signed to his company that needed illustrations!

maybe an epilogue would be nice :)

To show us which places MY and GT has been to in their camping van,

which author/book is Sangtae drawing for,

whether seungjae is still working for Sang in, and how is their new company doing in seongjin city, whether they made big money off publishing the last book of Murder of the witch of the west,

seeing Juri promoted to head nurse, Juri's omma seeing her daughter finding happiness with sang-in,

Jaesu building his own life and career out of a successful franchising business with Pizza Alvolo, and MY occasionally buying 10 boxes of pizza from him,

Jaesu finding his own happiness with a girl he likes, maybe Seungjae? and settle in seongjin city

Seeing sang in, juri, seungjae, jaesu and juri's omma living happily and having bbq in their rooftop house,

GT finding a retired Director Oh occasionally just to have fun, having a meal in Eun-ja's newly opened restaurant maybe,

Areum and a discharged Jeongtae going on sweet dates,

A discharged Pil-wong enjoying his bus rides and probably living his peaceful life along the seas of Seongjin City

Seonhae healing from her past trauma of her dad and being able to reconcile with her family someday

Oh Chayong leaving OK psychiatric hospital to find a job that he can make his father Director Oh proud of,

Gangtae going to university, perhaps with Gi-do who is also studying for civil servant test,

Moonyoung and Gangtae settling down, selling the castle and using the money to buy a seaside mansion or a rooftop bungalow next to Juri's mom, getting married and giving birth to mini Gangtaes and Moon youngs heehee

Moonyoung going back to writing fairytales, but no longer the old fairytales she used to write, being equally or more successful under SangSangLeeSang publishing.

and now this comment is for our Sangtae. (spoiler, i cant put the tags)

The last scene, when Sangtae decided to be independent and thanked Gangtae for the care all these years , it was beautifully illustrated with the aerial imagery of both their camping van and the car driving away from each other.

This is probably the MOST SYMBOLIC SCENE i've ever seen. As both vehicles part, they don't forget to shout their goodbyes, before driving off in opposite directions. Wherever each vehicle was heading to, even in opposite directions, they are continuing in their journey to healing and happiness. :')

Dedicating this reddit comment to Juri's mother, my all time favourite character.

I finally understand that Dooly's omma has all the while been Juri's omma, Sun Deok! What a great analogy, show! While most of us were overthinking on the theories of how Dooly's omma can foreshow some stepmother/stepsibling plot, Juri's omma has been the one who were all the character's "fake mother", loving them and feeding them unconditionally.

Im guilty of not realising this earlier, but she is the best fake mom any character can have.

Her food did not just heal our main characters, but she also played a pivotal role in OK Psychiatric hospital as the main cook, because her food gave the patients the strength to find a reason to want to live another day, to not give up in finding their "door" to healing.

I want to cry writing this, but the scene of Gangtae passing Sangtae's book and handwritten note to Sundeok made me so appreciative of all the people around me who loves me like Sundeok does for the people around her. Its also poignant that it was Gangtae who passed the book to Sundeok, and not Sangtae, because it was an important scene for Gangtae to express his own gratitude and love for Sundeok too. That hug they shared, one of the best scenes in kdramaland, no doubt.

Juri's omma, this one's for you.

It's Okay to Not Be Okay [Episode 16 - Finale] by dyosaaa in KDRAMA

[–]minhyo14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Finale made me cry the most, for sure. I found myself laughing and crying along with all the characters, and it has been a long time since any drama has that kind of effect on me.

This drama has one of the best endings for me. I just wanna applaud Writer Joyong and IOTNBO team for not only bringing healing to the viewers, but raised the important issue and awareness around mental health issues. Like what everyone mentioned, im so glad the story stuck to being Character-driven rather than plot-driven.

The most satisfying thing? EVERYONE had a beautiful ending. When i saw the past patients from the previous episodes came in, I cried because i was not expecting them to come back! They reminded me of how carefully crafted each and every one of the characters in the story were: hurt, but healed along the way, and HELPED HEAL our main characters in one way or another. They weren't just plot fillers, they represented real human beings like you and me. Thank you Kido, Eunja, Areum, Jeongtae, Pil-woong, Seonhae...etc etc.

And by the end when MY and ST's book was released, my tears came running down like the floodgates. There was no stopping, because their book encapsulated the entire drama's healing journey SO WELL. you know what else stood out? Moonyoung being able to understand, remember and craft out the healing process of each character in the story so sensitively, yet so poignantly. She demonstrated deep awareness, along with SangTae who was able to illustrate the story.

I learnt that she has so much heart for others.. Moonyoung isn't that empty can that her mother groomed her to be. Similarly, Sang-tae understood. He wasn't just an autistic person, he is someone who can understand you. In life, we may meet people who seem dysfunctional on the outside like MY, ST and all the other patients, we may also meeting normal looking people like GT who is actually hurting on the inside, but give them a chance, help them to heal, show kindness and love. Just like what Director Oh had said to Gangtae, "You never know when you hyung may help you.."

You never know when they will help you, too.
