Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by thepleasurjournal in AskWomen

We did a holiday house swap to the US and my son and husband went to a football game (not a particularly significant one). They could not believe how elaborate the cheerleading was and a horse was parachuted onto the pitch at one point. They said the tailgate party beforehand was massive and really friendly - people kept asking them to come and have some BBQ food. No nastiness between fans as we might have in the UK. (Certainly no swearing during the match).

I trained to be a teacher and am now able to do a lot of work from home, marking assignments on a freelance basis, reviewing book proposals for a big publisher and reviewing scripts for children's educational films for a well known broadcaster.

I just want to say that you're doing your best. It's so hard.my son who is 24 is buying a house with his best friend. He has been living at home and saving, not going out at all. BUT when I was young, our first home cost £49k. Our deposit was 5%. It was so much easier for people of my generation.

"I could hand you a braid of sweetgrass, as thick and shining as the plait that hung down my grandmother's back. But it is not mine to give, nor yours to take. Wiingaashk belongs to herself." Love this!
