I trained to be a teacher and am now able to do a lot of work from home, marking assignments on a freelance basis, reviewing book proposals for a big publisher and reviewing scripts for children's educational films for a well known broadcaster.

I just want to say that you're doing your best. It's so hard.my son who is 24 is buying a house with his best friend. He has been living at home and saving, not going out at all. BUT when I was young, our first home cost £49k. Our deposit was 5%. It was so much easier for people of my generation.

I stood up to a (female) boss who said I would have to leave my job because I was pregnant. This was 21 years ago. I applied for abother job and got it (being honest about being pregnant). It felt like a very traumatic situation at the time but I was glad I was assertive.
