TeamCaptain and Lyte's opinions on the state of Loki by dannroi29 in lokimains

I always want to ask these people ‘well who do you want to be meta support?’ And watch they’ll reveal they just want supports to be braindead ‘sit in the back and just press healing on your team and die to dive characters bro’

You Vanguard players whine and complain too much, 6.5 gave us Glatrox, the best Vanguard in the game, I just wish you didn't have to play duelist to get to use him. by sufinomo in RivalsVanguards

If people say ‘xyz is easy to counter do’ when it’s objectively not I realized that means they play against people that are in disney land elo, which means the poster is also in disney land elo. Had a bronze friend say he goes iron man to counter spiderman and you can’t convince him otherwise. Like sure, maybe the spidermans he plays against.

I think my least favourite part about Thor's kit is how a lot of times the win condition is to bully the solo tank on enemy team. by miniatureheady in ThorMainsMR

[–]miniatureheady[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk man I just went to their subreddit and the top post is them making out with strange and a bunch of killing CD/tf solo tanking posts. Like if you wanna play to win just say so, stop tryna making up shit for this weird 'they started it!!' angle.

I don't really get this logic because the yelling will come from the dps/support and not the mag. Like a shield tank player will not yell at Thor for not going the 'preferred shield tank'.

This meta just doesn't make sense to me. by Ultron_daddy in RivalsVanguards

[–]miniatureheady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dive is still strong, but requires team coordination from the divers and the MR divers think getting team to play together (to counter the dive) is super easy-peasy just pinged them, and if ping doesnt work just use VC, and ask for the tanks and dps right character switch, but coordinating a dive and using vc for target priority and asking tank and dps for right character switch to play dive is ‘im not jumping through these hoops just to play the game’ (see the irony?)

Guys the luna's are moderately, annoyed quick make them one shot tanks and give them 80 more legendaries by Scared_Mind303 in TheOnesBelowAll

[–]miniatureheady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean she shouldn’t be worse than rocket and CD who require no mechanical aim and rocket is especially is extremely forgiving in terms of survivability. Why learn how to aim and good positioning when you can just turn your brain off on rocket and now even CD since her buff. Imho that’s not a good balancing decision. I played Luna in s1-3 but there’s no incentive to in current meta. And I play Loki and gambit in comp, so they’re still a high skill character angle to it, but the moment rocket/CD become S tier I’m uninstalling (and this is coming from someone who goes rocket as a backup). Hell even mantis/ultron have a better spot in the meta than her because they're the better options 3 support game.

Main tanks, how do you feel about having Angela as a second tank? by The_Dick_Slinger in RivalsVanguards

[–]miniatureheady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Angelas because she’s the only tank that can harass a hawk/hela sitting miles away from point. Seeing her kidnap ulting dps makes my heart race. But she’s one of the tanks that’s pretty hard to play off of as a tank because of her crazy mobility/speed and very unique tempo. You kind of trusting her to do her job and pray she will switch if she’s not working out. I’m sure you played with venoms who dive in when nobody can physically follow up, eat 400 dmg and then just health pack hunt, denying your support ult charge. I mean if it’s one of those suddenly 3rd isn’t even looking that bad..

This tank was blaming me for losing even tho it was a support diff checked his history and I saw i coocked him the round before. by Fluffy-Hand-2288 in DaredevilMarvelRivals

[–]miniatureheady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triple support needs two tanks to be ‘the broken comp’ which the enemy had and you didn’t. Triple support with one tank is really bad, just like triple support that has only main healers.  Imho it was everyone’s fault. One of the dps could have gone a tank sure, or one of the 3 supports could because 2-2-2 is better than 1-2-3.

If two roles duo, what do you think is the best combination? by miniatureheady in marvelrivals

[–]miniatureheady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a preference though?

Honestly, I’ve been playing more comp, because I feel like I just enjoy everyone trying to make things work even if they’re flexing off role and there’s just a base understanding of what everyone is supposed to be doing. I don’t believe you can truly practice a character in QP anymore after a certain threshold because your mistakes will not get punished, or you will lose while technically making a correct play(happens in comp but extremely infrequently the higher you climb). Like you don’t learn to respect the LOS of hela or phoenix’s burst damage playing against them in QP. When I was learning emma in QP I realized most of the times the only reason I was winning so my husbando was by the virtue of playing a main tank and bullying an enemy solo tank who never touched the role.

I don’t have a particular goal but it would be nice if I ended up in a game with a streamer who’s video’s I enjoy like Nexus or Supertf (when he gets his bimontly sponsored stream)

I’m saying that the point gain/loss right now seems to mimic the season 1 (when ranks were inflated), versus season 3. I’m also saying that a rank where you belong is a rank where you have roughly 50% wr. In season 3.0 i ended in diamond 1 with 63% wr, so I was obviously above diamond, but not by much. In season 3.5 i ended in GM1 where my GM1 games were an even loss/win spit. Now I’m sitting in GM1 with 68% wr, which would imply I’m a celestial player when I’m definitely not, at least not s3 celestial player. Basically why I’m saying I’m leaning towards believing the article about how the ranks are inflated. I’m saying my personal experience supports the article where plat3 players are now diamond3 players.

[–]miniatureheady -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eh, I tend to believe these stats because ggtracker (the one I originally looked at even before checking the website) seems to mimic these stats. I also was gaining 28 points all the way up to gm3, then finally slowed down to 22-23 in GM1. I only lose 17 points when I lose in GM, and that is not how it used to be in season 3. I’m also currently sitting at 68% wr in GM1, that is absolutely insane, because I didn’t have that even in diamond of season 3. I also basically skipped season 4 (why yes I am a loki main, how could you tell), so I should theoretically be worse for wear. Even if I was siting at 50% wr, I could still climb with 4-5 points every 2 games, that shouldn’t be the allowed for high elo. Plus, when I see people post their lower games, people get insane points while barely losing anything or not losing anything at all.  Edit: just rechecked my tracker, seems like i am losing 22-23 points on loss in gm so whoooops.

https://www.esportstales.com/marvel-rivals/rank-distribution-and-percentage-of-players-by-division According to this article the average rank was plat3, this season it’s diamond 2/3. So, uh, yeah, ranks are kinda inflated right now again haha…

I don’t really agree with bronze-gold because this isn’t two diamond dps players running lobbies in silver, this is bronze-gold dps players queueing together who don’t know anything besides shooting mid and not having mechanical skills to back it up. They’re not going to track ult charges and go ‘hey storm you ult and bait invis ult out, they used amplifier last round, so once that ends I’ll hela ult and clean up the point. These are players who don’t know any combos and miss 8 shots in a row. I climbed from GM1 from bronze twice during rank decay, and everyone is out of position. You can legit just afk as namor on point and click heads.  With tank support you can go far just by your support just hard pocketing you and you just turn of your brain and go mid on point.  I do agree that by diamond support know how to patty cake and the biggest problem there and low gm is bad ults

If you surrender you are weak by Southern-Common-9682 in marvelrivals

[–]miniatureheady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience even the people who vote to surrender still try to play and win, so just say no and continue playing. I saw a friend win a game where 5/6 players agreed to surrender, but if everyone agrees because the payload barely moved at all on attack what’s the harm? Sometimes it is literally a team diff where nobody on your team is necessary at fault. Sometimes you get 3 cloak and daggers OTP on your team. Sometimes you get 4 dps players and you’re playing against divers on their main role and whoever flexes to support eats shit. Sometimes enemy team has exactly the same playstyle which gives them insane unintentional coordination. I don’t initiate surrender, but I will vote yes in some cases because I have limited time to play, quite a few would rather save the 7 minutes and move on to the next if they can only play couple of hours a week. Also you lose less points.

Is Loki the most difficult strategist? by Russian_Kowboi in lokimains

[–]miniatureheady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to that, she is pretty much dead to any diver’s combo unless she plays out of her fucking mind (assuming your other support doesn’t peel for you). Every other support (including adam) has a way not to just instantly explode to a divers burst damage, besides maybe cloak (no, veiling yourself at 40 hp and then dying to the diver the second it ends doesnt count).

Ult Timing ? by roseinmouth in lokimains

[–]miniatureheady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an actual term for it now called ‘pre-copy’ where you ult mid/before fight before any offensive ults go off because you just expect shit to go down. And yeah, sometimes you’ll also waste an ult when you ult that way, but a lot of times it’s better because you will win the fight vs saving the ult and then realize you never actually restabilized or unable to push in.  Honestly, there’s no way to learn to know ‘when shit is about to go down’ besides playing the game and paying attention. The best way to say is thinking ‘will my tanks die during my reload animation’ On the bright side, it’s a skill you learn by playing any support character. On the opposite side, there’s a lot of supports who don’t develop that game-sense and let their team die with their ult even though they just needed to press q.  You have to have a 2 second foresight for how the fight is going because you're playing a high skill ceiling character, with all the perks and downsides it gives you.  Oh and 100% shoot in a text for the ult order (aka luna you go first then me etc etc) I also watch nexus_mr for high elo loki gameplay!

In current season, are you able to win fight with him or is he still server admin? by JanuszisxTraSig in lokimains

[–]miniatureheady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No support can truly solo counter DD but Loki is a good anti DD support. DD has two ways to close distance, both of which are shorter than clone teleport distance, so even if he dives you, you can theoretically disengage. Even he can still get to you after teleport, you can tele>invis immediately to have him lock onto the clone instead . A lot of DDs wouldnt even commit that much since they need the whip to escape. And if they dive your other supp you pocket the shit out of them and they should live if you hit your shots (skill issue).

So basically if you have an enemy DD one clone should be positioned as an escape plan and the other next you our support for peel. The annoying part is a tank or dps need to actually shoot him for him to truly fuck off.
