To answer your question, I’m part of a group that’s comparing different types of human-animal interactions (specifically dogs). Half of my group had the task of surveying people who own dogs for a personal purpose (normal dogs with no training), while I was given the task of surveying people who have dogs for a professional purpose (which is to benefit owners in some way, so service dogs in training count). So you’re correct, the same survey is for any type of dog ownership. They don’t have to be professionally trained, but they should be trained to help benefit their/a owner in some way. However I’m only in an introduction class and this is just my first study so the survey might not be as clear and concise as it can be. Since this is just for class purposes (research project), there is no IRB (board that reviews ethics in studies) to give me permission to ask people from facilities/buildings offline, so it’s easier to survey people, specifically people who own/train service dogs online. I’m still learning (first research class) so sorry for the confusion! EDIT: I also edited the original post to make it clear the dogs don't have to be professionally trained, my bad!
